Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Bullying and Harassment @ Avaya

Bullying at Avaya nearly ki-led me, I won't let it destroy you.

I know how it feels to:

  1. Wake up every morning with a knot in your stomach.
  1. Dread the day ahead.
  1. Have panic attacks on the way to work.
  1. Be humiliated.
  1. Get passive-aggressive emails.
  1. Be harassed and treated like I was disposable.
  1. Sit in my office with my back against the door, frozen in fear.
  1. Be told I wasn't good enough despite working myself to the bone.
  1. Have my mental health used against me and be mocked and ridiculed for not being "tough enough" to handle the toxic environment that was breaking me.
  1. Plaster on a fake smile and pretend everything's fine.
  1. Question my own sanity and wonder if I was overreacting or if the abuse is real.
  1. Have health problems because of all of the above.

But let me tell you what I wish I was told at the time.

You are not alone or deserving of this treatment. There is a way out. From your pain, you'll find your purpose.

Dear @1bms+1u6zrRyy
That favoritism doesn’t roll down the chain. It has been obvious from AM for a while. Is it reasonable? From my view, it does somehow even out what past leadership did to these marginalized groups. I know this is a wildly unpopular take.
From,
A person who falls in that category

Just want to point out that it is possible to both be not good enough and working yourself to the bone. Check out the concept of the Peter Principle

I’ve had a question on my mind for months now, never figured an answer: is the favoritism/ bias that AM has demonstrated towards females & LGBTQ execs reasonable? Has he allowed this obvious culture of harassment and bullying because he has personal soft spot towards these 2 groups?

For the people in the know, can you plz pitch in?!?

You either find a way out or become so emotionally detached as a trauma response that your friends and family notice a difference in character. It’s the latter for me unfortunately… this job market is rough so I’ll be here consoled by the fact that I’m not alone and using up those free EAP resources for now.

You may ask: Why would someone put up with something like this?

One moment you’re getting harassed, the next they shout out your accomplishments, repeat cycle. I gaslit myself into thinking I was being too sensitive. All the signs were there. It wasn’t until people started calling and texting me directly after internal calls asking me if I was “ok” that I realized…. Sh*t. I’m really letting them do this to me.

I hope others find their out easily.

It’s the passive aggressive (culture ( that’s what my kids made it obvious to me🧐…

  • don’t think, just do: once asked ‘why’ & the response was ‘do u want to go and ask the CEO? I was designated by the CEO …’🥶
  • impostors only plz: senior leader after senior leader for mgt after mgt; just switch words and change their order & you’ll have a new strategy 🤪

Going once, going twice…
