Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

They want us back because of their own paranoia

According to ExpressVPN, uncertainty and unease about what employees are doing is the primary reason employers are interested in surveillance. In a January 2021 study, 57% of bosses said they don’t trust their employees to work without in-person supervision.

Also, peasants worked way more than 40 hours in the dark ages. We have more advanced tools and processes now though and most people don't need to work the hours a peasant in the dark ages had to so we can easily eliminate most peoples jobs today if I use your logic.

I actually do all that stuff and still don't need to work 40 hours every week. There are weeks I need to work 40 hours or more still. I also do come into the office a lot but arrive late and leave early most of the time.

Also, it's not easy to eliminate someones position just because they don't work 40 hours a week. Someone could just be better at their job than the average person and have better time management skills. That isn't someone that is easy to eliminate.

So you’re literally admitting 2 things.

  1. Your position can be eliminated because you don’t even need 40 hours to do the job.
  2. You clearly don’t “work” for 40 hours a week while at home.

Yes, I understand there are ebbs and flows with any job, but you can always find SOMETHING that needs to be worked on. Perhaps learning a different skill by shadowing, cleaning up your own processes and procedures, helping others get to the same efficiency that you have. Insulting me for my opinion though seems to be more your style.

What you deliver is more important than how many hours you work. Just because you are too incompetent to get your job done in a reasonable time doesn't mean everyone else needs to come back. The work at Schwab rarely takes more than 40 hours a week to get done.

I also think most people don’t want to return because they know they aren’t working the full 8 hours. Just my opinion.

They want us back b/c of fear and control, what they dont understand is that they are actually losing control.
