Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

What’s the real playbook? Why does HR and management looked stressed?

THE PLAY BOOK
*3 year plan!!! If they wanted to keep people happy and feel secure at their jobs. The company and union would not be coming back with this garbage contract for us in Schenectady. They are going to close it and I’m not talking about the play scale either.

Company says a 2 year extension? Union said sure thing! Cameras for money to be divided? Union said sure thing! No closing the gap for T’s take it from the D’s. Union fights but ends up with sure thing!

Now Look at everything the company got.
*split pay scale gap grew bigger
*The headquarters is being moved to Ma soon.
*There will be a layoff at the end of the extension.
*There is no closing the Gap for T’s so stop complaining.

Enjoy selling out we will be all watched on camera very soon!
If people enjoyed working here like they use to there would be no need for an attendance policy now would they? The attendance will be strict because they want to fire and hire to keep wages low! If they get 10% to turn over year after year for 2 years that 10% is at the lowest rate in progression.
**the union got a cheesy raise and extension so you tell me where the companys future goal is here in Schenectady. Keep dragging up along with crumbs and somehow it keeps passing. It’s not thinking of a future for the American union worker. They think we make the parts here is easy. It’s a skill but they don’t look at it like that. They look at it like we are disposable peons.

I see that here in Schenectady it is a sunken ship that is going to be more lost at sea with in 2 years. The union keeps giving them everything they want because if they do not the company will close shop in Schenectady. Schenectady voted no! Schenectady is really going to be on the chopping block now! The writing is on the wall Verona is going to clean house in 2 years! The company never gives Schenectady Anything back just keeps squeezing the life out of the American Union Worker. Why is that? Because they are closing shop soon but not soon enough. I for one had enough of this.

GE is licking their chops thinking ahead to that 2025 negotiation....they cant wait to corner the 301 'leadership' and drop the 401k and double healthcare and watch the 'leaders' crumble. Dominos are about to fall!

You are correct! And to have the current clowns negotiate a full contract is laughable to say the least. They have proven they can’t negotiate a grievance correctly, how could they ever do a full 4 year deal. Those that have bought the bs spewed by the local leadership are the only ones that believe they can do it. Those are also the ones responsible for the cr-p we love with. When you allow a small group to rule, the majority has no one to blame but themselves. 2 opportunities have been available to get rid of the clown and the P, but the membership has blown it each time. Its only going to get worse for 301 and Schenectady.

Once the Vernova side splits from Aviation, won't the Power and Aviation unions negotiate separately? So in 2025, Lynn & Aviation will negotiate their own contract and Power sites will negotiate their own contract ?

So many laughable comments and dreams. HR and Management know what's coming, so do some at the hall. Its not a layoff, its not a plant closure, its not a strike. What's coming is most of them will be looking for more than a job, they are going to need serious defense attorneys. Shop stewards on the floor are rarely allowed to do their jobs. Grievances would be flying just about everyday across the shifts and shop if they could do their jobs. Seniority is rarely followed even though that's a company and union policy. The union stands by and watches pi-s poor management destroy the opportunity to be a very successful site. Managers, not all but some, violate Corp policy, labor laws, and the spirit of the letter on a daily basis. But all that happens is the hourly folks are attacked and punished while the salary hacks are slapped on the back. If Schenectady had real leadership and a legit HR department, and the union functioned half as they should, it would be a much better place. Its been more than 15 years of pi-s poor leadership on both sides of the isle, its like national politics. Very disgusting!

We have a full work load. This was our time to unite. We should not have to get through anything. We were in the driver seat. Small minded BA just finished the union off. 2009 division from the start all over again. The union leadership you are a part of is destroying the union more and more every meeting they attend. The BA talks about honoring Seniority all the time. I guess when it come to doing his job he forget union 101.

I'm a member of Scot's leadership team, and let me tell you, all is not lost! Yes, we have seen better days but even better one's lie ahead! Remember, there is no 'me' in 'win'. My union friends, you need to have faith in your shop stewards and line leaders. We will get through this together!!

@1bbx+1mhtJMqh- it was not accepted by all! It was accepted by Lynn Mass! Do they have a split pay scale? Wages go down as inflation is out pacing skilled trade wages in corporate America. Sad!

I can't believe any of you willingly live like this. Why should anything improve when it's already accepted as is?
