Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

Why is there no media coverage on the layoffs except IL?

Don’t you find it odd??

5K+ RIF sounds like a made up and very exaggerated number.

Mostly because the California EDD has not posted the warm notice from WD and WD has not publicly announced the details of the RIF. Once it’s posted you’ll see some outlets talk about it

Both WD and Seagate have 5k+ RIF worldwide in last six months. Not a small number.

small numbers for the press to care after they report on Meta and others laying off thousands of employees

Here are some reasons:

  1. WD never officially announces unlike other large tech firms. Not even in internal emails or AHMs, where DG and SS simply bulls@&t over these questions
  2. No one in media or wall street really gives a cr^p about WD
  3. WD employees who get hit simply move on, instead of moaning and groaning on social media like Google, FB and Amazon techies

With current stock price and no dividend, not many ppl would care.

No I don't find it odd because while WD is a big company, it's not a company that public knows about. He-l, Empower is one of the biggest 401k management company, I've never heard about it until WD switch to it.
