Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

Never stop looking for the next job

I just landed a position that pays 20% more and offers better benefits without ever intending to leave. I just listened to a friend who convinced me to keep applying for jobs just to keep my eye on what's out there and to keep my interviewing skills up. I ended up getting an offer which I was happy to accept. Now I'm paying it forward. Keep applying even if you're not planning to leave! You never know, you might get lucky. I certainly did.

call me an old cynic but these read like an HR lackey trying to save Permiras pennies by encouraging peeps to jump ship LOL. Written a la Dale Carnegie. Better advice is to actively look for another job yes but also vaguely working to rule to get the layoff package as a bottom 10% performer.

I have a similar story. I left last year of my own accord after many interviews, which helped my polish my presentation and interviewing skills. Once the right offer comes along you will feel more confident in your ability to convey your strengths and speak to what you can offer a new company. It's a shame that oftentimes one must go outside the company to get the recognition and salary that they deserve, but that is life.
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, you may just surprise yourself!
