Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

What is going on with hiring?

Seen a few posts on here and Aramco expats.com about offers being low and expats rejecting. In my area we had another expat rejection this week for that very reason. Staffing are coming in with silly offers of around half of current, it’s complete idiocy. Apparently my AA has no control over this…Anyone have any insight what is going on?

Permanent contracts will soon be consigned to history for all expat payrolls, it will be 1 or 2 year deals with none of the retirement benefits. They will claim it aligns with other firms in this part of the world. It’s coming. Mark my words!

They do love their cheap labor. Outlawed slavery in 1962...or did they?

"Saudi Arabia was the Arab country with the highest prevalence of modern slavery, reaching an estimated 740,000 people. Iraq and Yemen followed behind. The Arab states was the world region with the highest prevalence of modern slavery in 2021."

Spot on. IT is due to go fully Saudi in 2 years, engineers are slated to be saudized in the next few years also, The only expats remaining will be the Bangladeshis providing hand sanitizer, those in PR and consultants working through c0rrupt single source contracts paying wasta $$ to management.

Too risky to join Aramco in this moment, many projects to be frozen, a lot of cost reduction initiatives in process, expensive expats fighting new talented ones and management pushing for a higher saudinization quota.

It’s Aramco’s way of price discovery. They think they are so clever, if it’s such a great approach, one wonder why other firms don’t operate like this!!!??

You get what you pay for.

Their "Budgets"...

Hiring is similar to new technology, they always want the latest and best and then try to persuade the technology providers to do a "free trial" to see if it works...the worlds largest oil company that tries so hard to build its reputation, does more damage to its reputation with its repulsive, cheap, souk like antics....

Its not complicated! The Big Boss doesn't think they need the help right now. They will wait until a crisis and then "panic hire". Happens all the time now.

That's how they roll. Squeeze until they squeal. Then backoff a bit once they have found the minimum level. It's the new and improved Aramco way. Always hone the deal.
