IT sending out intentional spam

Heads up to employees: the IT group is sending out emails to employees posing as HR or some other @oxy email address trying to catch employees in clicking on external links in an email. If you do this, they get you in trouble (for the email they intentionally sent in the first place). All apart of their cyber security push currently. Don’t click on any links. Even if from your own co-workers. (IT can make it look like the email is coming from anyone)
Good luck out there.

@1Qfzs+1j3ei1Gi Just checked on the Outlook app for Android. If I open an email and then click on the ... options, there is the Phish Alert icon. Clicking that sends it to IT properly (and you'll get the message indicating whether it was a test or actual attempt). Works just the same as Outlook Web Access and the Outlook desktop client.

I do agree that for Spam you have to attach the original email which can be a pain on mobile.

What I don’t like is that they do it over holidays when they know you’re on your mobile just checking emails. Then they tell you that you can’t just forward the spam you have to attach the email. And you can’t do that on your mobile. You gotta actually log on from a PC to do that.

IT everywhere is doing this its the cool thing. First time they su---r you then off to the reeducation camp video you go then all is good. Now just delete anything you dont recognize and life goes on. Trained me to delete all meeting requests etc since suspicious content as well. I have never had such a tidy mailbox after the reeducation camp

Well, if you are as smart as a 2 year old and click on links in random emails then you are putting the company at risk of hacking. You should be treated like a toddler.

You don’t get in that much trouble. They just send a note to you and copy your boss. If your boss has nothing better to do they will stop by and talk to you. You will likely be belittled in the process which is the purpose of the entire exercise. And we all thought being treated like a two year old stopped at age three. Not the case because you are in corporate America.

They’ve been doing this for years. Nothing new about the emails or getting trouble for being stupid enough to click the links in them.

You you shouldn’t be clicking on strange links anyway. I wonder how many clicks under this sting will get you fired!
