Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Unlimited PTO = No real breaks

It finally happened. NetApp has removed real PTO benefits in favor of what is commonly called "unlimited" PTO. This announcement happening just a few quarters after return to office was announced is no coincidence. Leadership is setting the stage for zero-severance dismissals for the non-compliant. And remember, the execs won't be coming in nor will they need to beg for time off. When contemplating what to do next, just ask yourself, "WWGD"?

I’m disgusted. Netapp is a bad place to work. Leadership is spitting in our face. They don’t give a shyt and just asking us to leave. I can’t believe it’s come to this. Instead of growing the strategy is to continue to reduce costs. This unsustainable and before long the whole company will be outsourcing to careless and high turnover India. The product quality is already poor and suffer more till no one wants it.

If you’re able, get a new job and cash in your PTO before next 2 months.

@18j Do you have any credible sources here? Or just more fear mongering? I agree slashing PTO reserves would benefit the company financials come layoff season.

Do you have any real proof or evidence?

They are preparing for layoffs by drawing down the books, especially where long-tenured employees are concerned. NetApp has completed it's transformation from one of the best companies to work for into one the slimiest companies to avoid ever putting your trust in. They have been sc--wing with compensation for many commissioned employees, and doing absolutely nothing but telling folks to su-k it up or leave. This is Cloud City, and the deal is getting worse all the time.

All PTO is cancelled until morale improves.

Unlimited PTO is good right?
You get to take off multiple weeks on vacation traveling or working on personal projects.
This is good.

Eliminating accrued vacation would eliminate multiple millions of hours of such accrued times hundreds of dollars per hour from books. Significant growth goals are expected of AI focused technology companies. You may have noticed in public filings the recent retirement of CFO, and replacement with different CFO. (You may further note former CFO postings about un-retirement and adjacent competitive employment, likely an unrelated development). Different polices taking shape. Severance before the conversion date might still yield a monetary benefit. A united effort of some kind might be advised if such would have any hope of being countered. The state here seems to be Ireland.
