I keep hearing about layoffs all the time. People are being let go quietly, in small groups, allegedly one team at a time. It feels constant. Why is leadership so hush-hush about it? It’s ridiculous.

@6ng only if they need a new H1B. Renewals and existing ones are not on the table. Write your congressman and senator. All should go back.
Probably a lot more after today's visa news
@571 me too and so were the 2 women let go in the last year from my side of the business.
@534 Go ask the king brown noser in GTO, he'll tell a different story. But then again, he'll probably just lie.
I was let go last month and I’m over 50- perhaps there is something to the age discrimination lawsuit
@4tb that’s not true. They are rolling out offers and folks are accepting them all, at least in US Digital
@4pw I was told the TCS deal was dead. Of course, that could have been a lie. The individual who said it is a known brown-noser so who knows what's the truth? He lies to cover his butt every day. It's his world and everyone is just living in it.
With TCS offshore folks being transitioned to FTEs, could we expect more layoffs by year end ?
@29p you are complicit and posting on here doesn't diffuse you of your corporate responsibility. You are no better than the ones giving you the directives. No empathy here.
@43e legally, yes. but they have not. they've been flying under the WARN radar. IYKYK.
Yes, Met, we know you're spying on the boards...
@433 not true. Met legally has to give 30 days notice unless it's a firing for cause. Met routinely gives at least 60 days notice. Stop the fear mongering, man.
@433 details? location? anything?
2/3 my team will not return from Labor Day. Cut quietly week before.
Last year and this, I’m asked to identify 2-4 people to put on a PIP and work them towards reduced or no severance. This is part of the onshore to offshore movement. I hate that I’m part of it.
@28c yep. Old manager reported me to SIU for working another full time job while doing my met work. lol siu guy was pi---d when I explained it to him. Backfired on my manager.
But I was universally loved and respected. Just not by my leadership chain I got forced under 2 years ago. They’d be hard pressed to find anyone even willing to make something up. But I know 2 people the did the pip and write up thing too. They were fired but 1 got a small severance package as they were worried about a lawsuit and if you take the severance you sign away your right to sue.
@27a It definitely could’ve been a lot worse. Knowing GTO, they could’ve taken a much dirtier approach—like manufacturing issues to make you look bad and using that as justification to put you on a PIP. At that point, you’re walking on thin ice, and if you so much as sneeze in the wrong direction, it could be used against you. All it would take is getting a few subordinates to corroborate a story, and they’d have enough to fire you. No severance.
@273 I got decent severance but probably because they are afraid of the lawsuit. I have grounds for retaliation after the punished me with a bad yearly review after I filed an hr complaint against my boss and sided in my favor. Then I followed that up with a retaliation complaint vs many in the chain as they covered it up and were purposely not acknowledging my achievements like the regional award I won that they had me dropped from the entire communication chain and never acknowledged. As it didn’t play to their plan to fire me. So instead the eliminated my position even though I was the most productive. So then I get severance as a result.
@23z did you get a decent severance or did they sc--w you on that too?
I was let go last Friday after 15 years and being the most productive 70%+ of the work in a very limited high demand knowledge base. It was retaliation and a salary dump as everyone they are replacing is from India. Thats the MetLife way and the new frontier. Fire Americans, hire cheap resources from India and pray “AI” can do it. lol leadership hasn’t a clue and in my case will soon find out.
@17y bingo
"Looks like layoffs are on for Cary today."
Is the cop car there, again?
Looks like layoffs are on for Cary today.
@f8 Yes. Cary office.
@e2+ damn that's crazy. GTO?
@d6 I was laid off in the last few weeks. The HR partner on the WebEx when I was let go revealed that she would only be with the company for another couple of weeks.
I don't take it personally at all, but making someone spend their last weeks of employment (essentially) firing others - knowing all the while that their turn on the chopping block is coming - is some pretty brutal corporate BS.
Whelp, I just saw that they have even canned HR. Cuts are going deep!
@a5+ also avoiding the warn act. It has to be a few hundred people in the US this year so far.
Avoiding the press. Not a good image to cut so many jobs only to replace US workers with offshore Indians.
