Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Nashville Office

We don't see much in this forum regarding the Nashville office, which houses small teams for Finance, CMT, and CBS. Most staff are hybrid.

The November and December layoffs impacted the Nashville office staff to an extreme extent, and now speculation is swirling among the very few survivors regarding whether the company will even retain a presence in Nashville at all.

What happened with CMT Digital? (I'm not familiar with that department, but I have worked adjacent to other CMT departments in the past.) I did notice their website got destroyed by the company last year along with some others.

The people coming are not all that senior and it's only about consolidating from 2 floors to 1.

Nashville (mostly) remote worker here.

I would be just fine with the new owners requiring me to come into the office, assuming there is still an office to come into. Everybody's situation is different, so I can only speak for myself.

you can disagree with the co-ceos as much as you want about past decisions but from here on out things are what they are until the new owners takeover. not a lot of boat rockin' until then.

There are only a handful of actual CMT employees left in Nashville because there is only one original CMT show left. CBS sports still has streaming studio and staff that takes up one of the 2 floors. IT still has staff there and that reports to NY and the Digital team has somehow grown in staff members and budget even though the engagement numbers don’t justify it. Just more great decisions coming out of the 3 headed imbeciles. Any kind of

Sorry to disappoint but remote working will no longer be an option with the new owner.

That doesn’t answer the question. How do you know “most” Nashville workers report or have direct reports in other cities? Can you back that up??????

Good question. Most Nashville remote workers report to someone in LA or NY, and some have direct reports in other regions.

What about the remote workers in Nashville? If they close the offices there, will they be forced to leave?

CM is definitely the one who keeps gutting the smaller networks like CMT. That's been the case for years.

I see that the VP/EP and the full time staff were laid off from the only original show left on CMT. Don’t know who’s producing now but that’s a pretty stupid move to get rid of all the staff that produced your only on air show making money.
