Anyone have any info on the new RTO policy. Received an e-mail they are going to start tracking and this time if you don’t show up there will be consequences. Anyone know when this new policy is going to take affect?

I heard for first quarter, they checked that folks went in 12 days total. Anyone who didn’t make that, got an email notifications. Apparently tons of managers didn’t go in at all.
Report is out for first quarter and managers are notifying staff if they’ve fallen short in meeting their persona. And it’s only for the US. Violates privacy for any other region.
I think it was just euphemism....and we all know it was a lie :)
@3ca I guess this doesn't impact people that received zero to low bonuses? I'm willing to forfeit my zero bonus by not having to be stuck in traffic and be in the office like a can of sardines.
Finally heard from my manager but she said the consequence is lose bonus instead of losing jobs...
Just received an email about in office attendance expectations… in the end it says they are going to monitor to assess compliance … stating non compliance may result in formal consequences up to and including termination
@37n 100 percent correct. I’ve mentioned this exact same thing to my manager how distracting all the conversations are around you. Not to mention how you overhear things that you should not… from client confidential items, to employee confidential items, to cuss words and others literally being rude and yelling at others.
It is an uncomfortable and unpleasant working environment. It is not collaborative it is distracting.
When we came into the office 2 days a week we alternated the office we came into to be together. However now that we lost people due to layoffs and are required to be in the office 4 days we each go in to the office that is most convenient so I instead sit in an office environment where I know no one and am completely distracted with noises and inappropriate conversations all around me
How is it better for collaboration if most team members are working in different locations (cities, regions) and have to call into meetings? In reality, it's worst working in the office with multiple conversations going on simultaneously across the office floor. Everyone is talking over each other because they have to call into their own meetings. My productivity have gone downhill because of the office distractions. I have to wait until Friday working from home to accomplish anything.
Senior management are aware of our experience from hearing and reading our feedback in the pasts. This means they are intentionally enforcing RTO to make us quit to avoid laying us off and paying severance.
Still no letter but I was told verbally that they were going to start enforcing the RTO policy more strictly. Not sure what that exactly means though. I was not provided any additional details.
It appears others have gotten similar messaging because JAB is noticeably busier this week
@2yr my team was recently informed verbally. Also, there's no company wide email of the mandate which leads me to believe the company leaders are targeting specific business units to force us to quit. A couple of years ago a brave employee asked why RTO and Big Ron's response was something of the effect of 'Well, we just hired too many people'. It has nothing to do with coming to the office for collaboration. There are business units where most team members were replaced by remote contractors and offshore Indians. If in-office collaboration is so important to the company, the leaders would not replace local workers. If you look in the job board lately, you'll notice most of the job reqs are located overseas. These are avp and vp positions that would normally be reserve for local workers about a decade ago. You can thank the board and execs for creating a hostile work environment.
It would be nice if someone had some concrete examples or news of an email related to retaliation for not adhering to the RTO policy and exactly how the policy will be tracked. We have vacation/holidays/PTO/4 weeks to work off-site and different personas for different locations. How do they apply the policy in a fair manner? Have only ever been told that they can't track individuals for privacy reasons but can track and report on occupancy percentages. Has that changed? Rumor, conjecture, ragging on the policy aren't helpful. What would be helpful is someone who has actually gotten an email to share the contents. Does an email really exist?
They have motion detectors on the underside of each desk.
Lately, the parking lots at JAB are close to full by 9 A.M., except for Friday. There are only a handful of cars in the parking lots at 6 P.M.
We were told probably as a scared tactic as well. That it could look poorly if you don’t come in 4 days and that could result in you being next to be laid off.
No longer believe anything
Why do they bother with this b-s when they plan to make jobs redundant? Some of my coworkers were scared of being laid off so they were coming into the office only to be laid off as their reward. June 18th (anticipated reduction) is one day before Juneteenth - let's see if they will go forward on that date.
We were all told too need to go
In 4 days. We used to be 2 days years before Covid not sure why the need is so desperate suddenly for 4.
Well there loss my 2 - 3 hour total commute means they get less that time in work. Be spending that time traveling to work each day instead of working.
I received a verbal warning to go into the office more. I don't see the point since none of my team is in the US but whatever, I'll go in. They informed me that this was a verbal warning and if I don't comply then I'll get a written warning and if that doesn't change my behavior then I'll be fired. I was like calm down - I'll go in!
Maybe the Quincy office looks empty because there's not many local workers left to fill the building. Locals are forced to quit or be laid off and replaced with offshore Indian workers or H1Bs. It's embarrassing attending social events in Boston when State Street becomes the butt of all jokes and other local professionals feel bad for us. The company is seen as a corporate landfill in the Greater Boston area.
For RTO, I recalled either late last year or early this year that an employee raised the question about RTO mandate/peronsa in one of those News on the Street meetings. The GHR head responded that it was up to the managers to decide for their staff. She add to something to the effect of 'Its nice to have flexibility at State Street'. I was surprised to hear this because the entire time I was working the office 4 days per week. My incompetent manager at that time told me it's required while he no-shows.
I honestly think this RTO is give managers the authority to target certain people to quit. My prior manager pull all kinds of Quit Firing tactics to make me feel uncomfortable and leave. He would expect me work alone in the office, make me turn my camera on during meetings while he's remote and not working. Somehow these are the sociopaths that flourish in the company and are omitted from being punished and fired.
Just recieved feedback on badge swipe data for Q1 as i was well below the target of 3.2 a week. Though my mgmt sent a message in april that going forward it would finally be monitored...conflicting.
5th floor, it is empty. Not just the regular desks, all the offices too. So is the 1st and 2nd which I’ll occasionally walk around. I know they are mostly under construction but still, no people working there. I know 4th is really full because it’s all IT. Have not really been to the 3rd recently.
But honestly if you compared the cafeteria traffic before Covid to today it’s not even close. I think I waited in a line for the first time last week to pay for my food. The “line” in front of me of was one person!

Which floor in JAB? On the 3rd floor, I see the same amount of people before covid. Not sure about the other floors.
In CCB, I used to go there often but it relatively empty most days because of paying for parking.
I work in JAB and my persona calls for me to come in 4 days a week. I have not received any email about them becoming more strict about enforcing RTO. I rarely hit the 4 days mandate but probably get closer than 90% of the folks in JAB. The building is empty. Maybe there was an email but I asked around and couldn’t find anyone that got it.
They can track you when you swipe your badge to enter the bldg.
Shows day and time.
They can track you the minute you log into your pc.
The company should do some research and see which workers need to be onsite and which workers can work from home.
I have been commuting 4 days a week since I joined last June. I hope that it isn't going to be 5 days a week :(
If someone got such an RTO, can you share some details on what is says? Does it say anything about the number of mandatory attendance days?
Depending on what building you are in they have different ways to track you. They have been saying that for some time but i think it depends on your actual boss.
