Could a GM and Ford merger be coming soon?

"Antitrust laws haven't been enforced since Reagan"
There's a huge list of companies who have been fined by the justice department since Reagan. Another example of people here who are guessing with authority. Just remember, not everyone in your life buys your obnoxious BS and lies. SMH Source below.
Sherman Act Violations Resulting in Criminal Fines & Penalties of $10 Million or More

Antitrust laws haven't been enforced since Reagan.
Don't count on that to prevent anything.
I’m looking forward to an El Ranchero\Malibu hybrid platform.
It won't happen simply because the Ford family would lose their dedicated income stream. While Ford is a publicly traded company, it is still ran by the Ford family. Just look at the executive board members if you're curious.
The big 3 keep announcing record profits every quarter.
But when it comes to layoffs, shutting down innovation centers, UAW contract negotiations, etc. they act like companies on the verge of bankruptcy.
If the big three claim they're broke again more than likely they will just go from holding company to holding company. Luckily Chrysler is an expert in said activities. How many did they go through?
No, I have not read about Tokyo Rose. Maybe it's the disgruntled employees that were laid off. I'm guessing a lot of the contractors and even some direct hires were on visa.
"GM and Ford are in their last leg of life."
This is not how Americans talk. Some trolls are motivated by elevating some contrarian views, others to demoralize you. The latter is a tactic of State Sponsored trolls, like the "Fifty Cent Army".
"Give up. You should quit."
"Things will never get better."
Who benefits from this kind of language? I'm sure you've read about Tokyo Rose. Same tactic.
What a perfect match !
They could finance the deal by laying off at the engineering level, keeping the management.
How perfect, we could work on integrating the all the processes for years.
Management needs nonsense to manage and this would work out well for the management, while the engineers at the working level are ousted.
We can keep the momentum by rebadging all the vehicles, then offering modern paint schemes and some fluff messages on the displays/clusters. We can offer subscription services weekly, want the radio - BLING, want the wipers - BLING, want heat in the winter - BLING, need to adjust your seat - BLING, want to shut off the cluster welcome message - BLING . . .
Both companies do have one thing in common and that's over-management ! Was a time where it was a minimum of six (6) employees to one supervisor. Unfortunately I was in a group of two, and admin and an engineer. OMG - talk about the boss being at my desk all day long !
"GM and Ford are in their last leg of life."
Sure. Both companies sell more cars than they ever have but are on their last leg.
I'm wondering where these trolls are coming from. Obviously someone who doesn't love cars or work in the industry.
Perhaps one of those Starbucks employees with a PHD angry at the world?
Did dad give you a hand-me-down Buick when you wanted a Mercedes G Wagon?
GM and Ford are in their last leg of life. They will both go belly up in the next 20 years.
Two negatives don't make a positive!
I would've said GM would go bankrupt before they admit they aren't too good to merge with Ford. Now, I think the government has its fingers in the auto industry more, so it's no longer impossible, though, I think it would take another 2009 type of shake-up which I don't think Ford is in as good of a position to handle this time.
That is my opinion for purposes of discussion.
What are you basing this question off of? Is there a single shred of evidence pointing to a General Motors/Ford merger? How would this merger benefit either company?
Posting this kind of speculation without any information is incredibly irresponsible.
