Can someone who has been laid off explain what the "outplacement" entails? I wonder if it is helpful, and exactly what it is/which company.

Treat your severance like unemployment benefits. You should know by now that your unemployment benefits will not be eligible until so many weeks after your severance, DWS will send a letter telling you how they compute that.
