Happy Thanksgiving y’all, enjoy the holiday, forget the layoffs and all the toxic talk. We will all comeback and see what awaits us after the holidays.
Intel grown up to be a Banana Republic
The psyche at the company is more like, all the time yes boss to commanders by the trusted lietanants who are in charge of execution. They go on putting a rosy picture on Circuit every day. At the ground level, everyone is suspicioius of the other... — read more
I can't wait for this agony to end.
The longer the uncertainty lasts, the greater the chaos here. Employees try to predict who will be cut and which positions are perhaps a little safer, even though everyone knows that no one's job is guaranteed. Meanwhile, morale is terribly low.
How can forecasts be so far off? Who is held accountable?
In Jan, Mr. Gelsinger said that he expected PC demand to remain strong. He dismissed the quarter over quarter declines as being partially related to supply chain and didn't even mention the possibility demand would weaken. He also said Sapphire... — read more

How many are still left to cut?
Any ideas? Over 1.5K have already been affected so far, and I'm hearing anywhere between 2.5k and 5k still to go. Which of these numbers is closer to the truth?
At least we know we're safe this week
Not a chance Intel is going to pull off major layoffs during Thanksgiving week. I guess that's something to be thankful for. Even if a whole bunch of us wouldn't even mind it just to get it over with. Thanksgiving week layoffs beat months-long wait... — read more

TD is spared from layoffs. Good for me or else I will not get a job anywhere else
I am happy that TD ones will not be laid off. I am from TD. And no, I am not sarcastic. I know, if I am laid off, I will not only get no job, but actually I am unemployable. Being a PhD in Physics for last many years at Intel, what I know the best... — read more

Peanut butter cuts of 10% across all organization won't fix the problem.
If you were able to get a 1-1 with Pat, what would propose? 1/ Cut discrete graphics. Over 12 years trying and $1.5 Billion wasted. 2/ Spin off networking business. It is worth more to Broadcom or Marvell then Intel. 3/ Sell programmable logic... — read more

From what I've seen and heard it doesn't look like manufacturing techs will be affected. Also looks like the build outs are still going.
The Big Picture

Hypothesis on why layoffs are taking longer than expected
Possibly because the target layoff number is in the 15k+ range, and this requires time to identify those who will be affected. It will not be a surprise that it could get into the 20k+ and the biggest layoff ever.
