I worked at corporate in IT. Being furloughed wasn't my fault. Being laid off (terminated!) wasn't my fault. Yet, everything that is now happening makes it look like I have been fired from the company. Yes, I got the vacation pay, yes I'm getting the max UC that PA allows (still way below my pay - not the 50% level the VP told me it was), yes I'm getting the 600/wk stimulus but all in all, I'm still going in the hole over 2K per month!
So there is the severence pay - sure I'll get it too but if I get another job in the meantime, that will be terminated, so I won't get the full severence. But I'll have to claim the vacation for this week and believe they will take away the UC and 600/wk stimulus for that week, making it worse. On top of that, I will also have to be claiming the severence pay as it comes in (why couldn't they just give a lump sum that would have been less painful?) and could be losing part if not all my UC for those 12 weeks too! So I really have no incentive to find another job until at least the middle of next month just before the 600/wk stimulus ends.
And I just found out that the money I've been putting into my FSA is history. As of 6/1, I cannot use that money that I've been putting into it every payday. I had a few health care visits schedules in March, April, and May that I could have used my FSA on but the Coronavirus caused the schedules to be pushed out past June 1. So I lose several hundred dollars of my own money and none of this was my fault!
The 20+/- page document is all worded like I was fired from the company. A no compete clause for a year, I can NEVER be rehired by DSG, all benefits are terminated (except health care lasting one month - whoohoo!), etc. Man DSG really has a fantastic set of attorneys, right?
Thank you D–k's for being so loyal to your teammates.
#DSGCARES - about the stock price but not the teammates who were loyal
"This is temporary" - not for some
"We want you back" - someone has lied
I'll bet that there are going to be more furloughs turning into layoffs before this is over.

The paperwork they sent out mentions a few times if you take the severance you can't go after the company even for age discrimination. #DSGCARES, about younger cheaper people. For a big company they don't realize the older/long term employees are the loyal ones. They younger ones work for 2-3 years and then move on to make more money.

I've been with this company for roughly five years, thought I actually had a future with this company, I even started to eat up the BS that was #DSGCares. Yeah they care alright.. they care about the bottom line and how much that number is in the positive.
People wonder why "company loyalty" is a thing of the past and this shows why right here... The company doesn't give two s**ts about the people who keep the wheels turning.

Honestly I'm glad this happened, I'm glad I won't waste 20+ years of my life at a company that doesn't value it's employees. Plenty of other companies like hiring combat veterans.

Corporate person here and it became more and more obvious to me that when 4 of the 6 on my team were already brought back from furlough and I was still sitting on the sidelines that it didn’t look good. But I was reassured by my manager about a week ago that things were on the up.

They were cancelling the paycuts in June and for those that were still working they would be reimbursed at the end of 2020 and NOT end of 2021 as was stated to us when the paycut was implemented. was also told that sales were actually trending up as well which is partially reflected in the current stock price.

As someone else mentioned, this was their plan all along for those that were furloughed, they had ZERO intention of bringing all furloughed employees back and weeded out ones they felt were overpaid, etc... and kicked them out the door. I too planned on retiring from there as I already invested about 20 years at corporate but yeah, loyalty doesn’t mean sh!t to d—s Sporting Goods.

#DSGCARES - LMAO what a joke that is. Thanks d—s for being classy with this.
