Has nothing to do with cheaper or efficiency. The in-house guys put up much better numbers at a better price. The problems is that you carry them as employees. That is not something shreholders want to see.

It all depends on cost. What would be beneficial to hiring brokers and training them on proprietary programs so the can bill $100-$200 more per day. If its cheaper to use in-house or company field landman then there is your answer.

Tell me how many companies utilize in-house landmen instead of huge teams of contractors to do their fieldwork at an overall cost savings to the company. Land has to be cut, everyone knows that. The question is do we get to continue on the old... — read more

Go open up an AAPL directory and tell me how many companies have 500 landmen like CHK? None. The land grabbing machine is done. You don't need 5 landmen running 1 rig. It's time to get lean and build some shareholder value.
