I am appalled that people are not voicing their opinion here or anywhere else. We are going through a major reduction in force that has been poorly handled in terms of planning and treatment of people. And there are no positions or opinions noted here (or wherever we have a forum if we have one). The cuts are done in semi-secrete way, different units are not aware what's going on outside of their respective units - we, the workers, have no leverage or ability to plan or maneuver our careers because there is an information asymmetry here, the HR has all the info, we are blind. Guess who has the upper hand here. Good luck and God bless.

I wrote the post below this and I know that the wireline department in the same building as me has been transferring people out to different places and this went towards reducing the head count. The difference being having a manager who cares that someone is going to lose their job and one who couldn't care less; unfortunately I was in the latter. I am posting anonymously as I am still holding a feint hope my ex manager who I mentioned can get me back into the firm in the field enviroment as the field tends to protect their experienced employees more than the product centres here in the US and I do not want to burn my bridges.
I am livid that I have been finished and a bit of notice and a few phone calls could have saved my career.
And look at the posts, all have hundreds of views (the counter is below the post) but no Facebook likes or Tweets (well, there are two tweets and 3 FB likes to be precise) - we deserve the calamity that's upon us
