Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

SLB are firing anybody that moves and is above 40

They just started targeting +40 year olds as they are the ones earning higher salaries - there is no future in a company like SLB.

I reply to the previous replicant: U, HR people (based of ur writing style) do know that your firm targets White folks above 50 and definitely about 60 as well as Semites, such as assyrians, Jews, arabs, etc. e,i, unprotected minorities asthey are considered whites. yiu would not dare touch miniroties falling in the protected categories. so u think that u can easily wash this dirt of your hands? there are facts and overwhelming facts. class action is needed!

They don't discriminate on who or how they get rid of people. The single most important decision maker is the person to whom you report. If you aren't on his/her good side the outcome will not be favorable.

I got fired yesterday and I'm 33. Been at the company 6 years, I transferred to the US last January as an international and now they are trying to say they don't have to repatriate me or ship my household goods which is part of my contract. I also found out from someone high up where I used to work I could have transferred to another international location and saved my job if my (now ex) manager would have picked up the phone and got me out of there. Not happy at all.

Most of those released from the product centers today are in their 20s and 30s.
