Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

All the PT Team Sups have officially been axed

Just spoke with my GM and found out that the PT Team Sup has officially been axed. This confirms that layoff post yesterday.

What he told me the reasoning was, was that it somehow allows them to shift the payroll around and allow smaller stores to get another AM.

So yeah, that taste is still bitter in my mouth

Edit: To clear up a little confusion, this change isn't happening until the start of FY2015, so the 31st of this month is the last day for all Part Time Team Supervisors.

Also, all stores I believe are affected. Some stores are going to just drop the position altogether, some stores will grow an Assistant Manager from it, and some stores will convert their FT Team Sup to an AM and drop both TS's. All of this depends on the store's volume. This is also rumors, I haven't actually heard anything legit regarding that so it might be different.

It's true. I just gt laid off yesterday....the 31st is my last day. I've been with the company for almost two years and everything has gone downhill..from hourly cuts to layoffs, staples has just slapped us all in the face. Doesn't matter if you're a hard working associate. If you have this job title, you're screwed and out of a job. I have a kid and am paying for school. It's a rough time. Not even the fact that they suggested we apply for the few full time AM positions helps. Only a select few will get the positions and the rest need to find other work. Happy New year.

All p.t.sups?....we have 2 a.m...(ssm and smm) and one ft.sup....so who would go??

Maybe they'll shift FT supervisors to the new AM position and move the PT supervisors to FT? Here's hoping.

I'm guessing that's what the GM-only conference call is going to be about today.
