Thread regarding DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. layoffs

A good move.

As the studio braces for yet another round of layoffs there is finally some good news: Bill D will step down. This seemed obvious and necessary a few years ago. Hundreds of people have had their lives uprooted due to Bill's mediocre and outdated ideas. A wise person once said to JK "Different isn't necessarily better". That wise person was Bill and too bad he didn't take his own advice. He was content hacking and slashing away at scripts so what was left was a first-pass on a fifth-draft. His Directors want to commit suicide over the "process". Since JK finally got this right, here's a little friendly advice: 1. Trust your Director's vision; if you don't - then find new directors. 2. Fox marketing is somehow even worse than Paramount marketing; fix that and stop talking down to your audience. 3. Eradicating "dreamworks-brow" was a good first step, but the snotty attitude of your characters is still there; they need to be honest and appealing (see B.H.6) 4. Your company has BIG money problems... why are there so many Teslas in the parking lot? Way too much executive overhead; way too little actual Production; 5. Your stories should be 99% complete in animatic form BEFORE you spend one dime on Production; you have an army of Directors... where are the stories? Stop being so cocky about your skills at polishing turds at the last minute. Your films are taking 3x the labor they should because of all the changes and half-baked ideas. This should really be friendly-advice #1 - DON'T START PRODUCTION UNTIL THE SCRIPT IS 99% DONE. Good luck.

Bonnie won't do any better than Bill D. They should hire you to take JKs place.

This is very good advice. Educated and smart. I hope JK isn't done fixing these issues.
