"Student" that I have wasted my time emailing, calling, texting, etc. for the past 11 weeks emails me and says he'll be making up all of his missing work. He was in jail for the past few months. Our TYPICAL student demographic. I email back...refer to the Late Policy, which this semester no longer allows late work from weeks 1 to 7 (not so before this semester where students could make up all weeks). He can do all he wants but will not have enough points to pass. Why and how this idiot is still in my class is not even a shock to me. I think I have seen and heard it all at Cci. Ridiculous.

Right. Unless the student has others completing and posting coursework for him. The practice is rampant, but who cares? CCi is an organization with criminals in high places. Who cares if students pass on their own merit or pay someone to pass the course for them?
Who cares? Really? There will be those students. Just follow your policy, the school policy, and do what Taylor Swift says "Shake it Off" and keep going. Personally, I don't care where a student has or hasn't been. I only care about the quality of their work which is really how it should be, right?
That is true if someone posted him, he will remain on your roster. But, you should go into the registrars office and tell them you have an email showing that he had been in jail and say he should be dropped but when you do that, they will give you he'll but tell them you will call the office of education and they will leave you alone. Thing is you have to be perfect in everything you do. Be by the book for grades and attendance. Follow policy for all students. And you will win. Just get a new job. Everest will never change.
From what I have been told by Jackass daughter-in-law, if he is participating in other classes, he remains on my roster.
If he was in. Sorry using my phone.
How is he still on your roster of he Davin jail for the last "few" months. What is the amount of days allowed to miss before he should be dropped. Someone named him present and kept him going....
55589: Don't worry, I won't be passing losers like you. Hope jail has been good to you so far.
If you don't pass him don't brother coming back loser
Real schools don't force their students into mandatory arbitration agreements.
I hope that ECMC will make this more into a real school, but with students like this and administrators that create these lax policies, I can't see this turning around for the better anytime soon.
Here's another kicker...this particular student in jail for the past few months is a criminal justice major! Good luck with that buddy.
These students think they are entitled to make up all weeks - and force an instructor to go back and grade it within 2-3 days. Sorry not the case. Thankfully we have some sort of a late policy this term (still a huge joke, but at least some limits are in place). You waste my time with useless outreach attempts that you can't bother answering, then the policy stands. I do not bend over backwards for students like this. You can give me all the lame "my other instructors are allowing all late work" BS, but rules are rules. The other instructors are afraid of failing you due to upper management pressure. And that is why Everest is in such deep trouble.
Yes, typical. Cci kept him in for financial aid...both for cci and student stipend. If he drops below full-time, he is not eligible for financial aid. I have all sorts of these that did not participate in the past 11 weeks coming out of the blue to make up work. I wasted my time on you with outreach am going to be blamed for failing you, BUT I will not lower my standards or bend any policy rules. You will fail the class and you deserve to do so.
