OMG - ECPO Year Plan meeting still trying to sell SLS 1105 and their "student focused" new class format is "ground breaking". It makes me gag. The information within this class is not only 10 years outdated but it also is incorrectly applied to help students become strong academically. Self esteem by itself will not make a successful student, if you want students to graduate you need for them to develop academic skills (e.g. reading retention, writing, etc.) Here is an idea, if you want to talk about a 12 month plan tell your full time and adjunct faculty how they will be supported in teaching, not babysitting, and how there is job security

You want outdated? Did you have to do Intelligent Heart training?!?! Holy early1990s. They wasted toms of money last spring on that pile of Doo Doo.
590, you are correct on every point but I think you are going to have to define STEM for 486. She thinks it is part of human anatomy.
486, if instructors wanted to work with you at Walmart we would have not gone to college or we would have gone to a college like this one. Instead of getting defensive, pay attention. Those of us who went to real universities and worked our butts off for our degrees know how important a college education can be and how college is supposed to work. This is the very reason why we are unable to compete with other Western nations academically. We now also have an inability to compete academically with most third world nations. Education in the USA is so watered down that those in our society do not have the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the workforce. Why do you think so many of the STEM jobs are retained by foreigners with a real education. There are also still many good paying jobs that cannot be filled because there is lack of qualified talent (workers). You need to wake up and get your head out of the sand.
How about removing those who plagiarize material and post it on this board? Check out 55508, above.
Here's some additional information I came up with. Instructors should be able to remove students from classes who are caught plagiarizing. The students will benefit by learning that cheating has consequences.
I am so sick of teachers like you. Instead of bitching about it, spend time to come up with additional information your students can use and benefit from it. However, teachers like you "never" have time for that. Better yet, get out of reaching. Walmart has openings all the time.
Hey, if your PDs are reviewing plagiarism SIFs you could have mega job security, because those SIFs will NEVER GET REVIEWED. You would keep the students but must become blind to the reason for your job security. The SIF reviewers under current protocol are in meetings with no agenda and no objectives except deciding who to blame for this week's fictional metrics. I think they have a 12 step program for disciplining "poor performers" in public, and each step comes with a heaping dish of humiliation. So not only are the instructor's students encouraged to plagiarize (due to lack of consequences), the people who support the same students are among the walking wounded and will do anything to keep those asses in classes.
