I remember I was alerted to the 25 max for pt associates in 2012 before the assistant manager lay off (retaliation for class action lawsuit). I was told specifically on the conference call it was to reduce Staples liability for health care due to changing laws regarding what full time is considered. So if it was a policy for 10 years, I never saw it. And I spent tons of time reading policy and procedure and on behind the easy button.
To avoid paying for Obama-Care everyone is part time now. However how can we afford Obama-Care working three part time jobs with $500 plus per month premiums? I'm sure there is someone out there that will say Obama-Care is a good thing, however when you have to pay a penalty for not being able to afford it ....something is wrong and hopefully changed when the next president gets in office. Obama-Care may have worked on paper but the human cost of not being able to afford health insurance. I voted in both elections for Obama thinking that he was actually going to make his Obama-Care bring healthcare to the working poor. Not only am I disappointed, but I regret having voted for Obama after he was responsible for this ill conceived health care mess...and that's what it became..it made things worse for working people.
How can they get rid of all part time associates? In our store that would leave 5 pepole. I expect them to work at getting rid of all full time associates.
Staples in Wayne PA just let go all Part Time workers today.
Have been ashamed of working here for years, especially under the incompetent, narcissistic scum that holds the title of my so-called leadership. Leadership who was working from the comfort of their home 100% of the time until they were exposed. Suddenly more frequent visits started to occur, imagine that. Feel free to close these doors anytime you wish!

As said by someone on Reddit...When things get so bad that the President of the United States calls you out on them, you dun goofed.
This was happening at my store like a year ago or so. Which was terrible. I would say it's more of an obamacare thing though. It's terrible when I was a tech/mobility supervisor, and my best selling employee who was also up for the job, and wanted to work as many hours as possible, was stuck working 20 hours. It's just not a good way to retain great employees.
Becoming embarrassed to still work for this place.
Staples has touched the bottom
