Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

What I think

What I think. I think Halliburton and baker are so much in debt on land market and with it shutting down. The amount of money lost compared to what they both have invested. To be honest I think they are both broke. Not broke as in no money. Broke as in can't survive without joining forces to stay afloat. I also think baker purchasing bj services broke them. Baker has always been a company not to invest in things unless they would have a contract. Maybe we didn't get big like red paint or the other blue paint. But baker would remain strong. Now having bought bj at the time may have been good move but not much thought was put into it. I think baker didn't think of the amount of over head to run a pressure pumping company of that large of a scale. I truly believe if we didn't purchase bj. Baker would remain.

Hopefully the deal fails. Being a baker person and believe me I need my job but I would rather see baker shut the doors that get taken like this. Been an awesome company but soon time to move on.

Trust me BJ did not want to merge with BHU. To this day Bhi does not understand pressure pumping! I have had several customers say that bj knew how to get things done! As soon as Bhi took over it all went to shit.

Thanks Bhi for dragging us down with you..

You have to wonder if the migration teams are working too close and driving some of these decisions...stay competitive my ass. Hopefully the regulator takes a good look at what they are doing!

There has been many poor corporate deciesons going back to the baker one initiative. Each division used to be its own entity and only that division was judged by its success or failures. Now, we have a few divisions dragging the whole company down finiacially. Has far as the layoffs goes, I have never seen baker cut this deep into profitable areas before. My division has close to 75% of the market share in the geo market. Our customers are already threating to back out of multi year multi million contracts because we may not be able to provide the expected services due to a dwindling workforce. A customers pays for five dedicated field personnel. BHI cuts two and tells the customer that your paying for five but your only going to get 3. This is going to far to deep in the wrong places.

If baker wasn't so arogant and would have listened to what a pressure pumping company needed to operate successfully we would have done better. Think about it baker buys atlas then buys BJ and both companies provide service to customers...but fail as baker one has to question. Baker is not set up to provide service...they have no idea how to provide service. Baker is a manufacturing and supply company with a poor supply chain. BJ made money providing a service, baker makes money selling piñatas not providing a service! Baker was almost bought by HAL in 2008 and bought BJ to prevent it, then screwed it up.
