Management normally sends in an HR person with someone from management into your office or call you into a separate room. The management person states they are sorry, but you are being laid off. They immediately ask for your company cell phone. HR will go over any vacation time you have coming, and any severance pay if you are lucky enough to qualify. If they state you will have health insurance for another two months, you have to pay the premium portion WFT was paying on your behalf. This is something they may or may not tell you. They will also give you some little booklets with names and phone numbers in case you need to contact someone to discuss after lay off stress, etc. They will confiscate all other WFT equipment in your office and let you retrieve only personal item. You will then be escorted out of the facility.

Yup. That's the way it is done. It sucks ass. At the end of the day does it make a difference. Not sure I would want to be told that I'm gone in two weeks and then stew on it every day I am at work. It would be good if the company offered job seeking assistance. Not sure if anyone has been offered that. I havent had to look for a job in a long time.
And I have listen to management howl with anquish if an employee decides to walk out...they don't abide the old "tit-for-tat" scenario...
That is brutal, but all companies do the same, short and brutal
Good post
