You never know what's going to happen and when UBS will cut. I have been with the company for about 11 years now, I can give you a piece of advice. Ignore all layoff rumors, it does not matter what you hear, 2015 cuts, 2014 cuts, whatever. You need to focus on your work, always do the best possible job and ignore all distractions. This will help you. Being concerned about what will UBS do and when will UBS cut resources, is it going to be London, or Hoboken, HR, Finance, contractors, or whatever, it really does matter. You will be selected if you are selected and there is nothing you can do aside from being really good at your job so they want to keep you. That's pretty much it, otherwise, you'll just worry and your work life will be miserable, you'll start to hate both UBS and layoffs and you will hate yourself. So, focus on work and ignore rumors.

Yes, here 10 years and seen it all.
Every now and then, they parachute another Swiss blockhead to run Asian/EM/domestic businesses with no clue and with one aim to conform to "Swiss" standards.
The senior management enrich themselves with junket trips, F1 paddock clubs for their family and management offsides so they are never around when decisions need to be made.
Managing top management is pioritised over managing clients. Not a week goes by when ground soldiers are asked to submit data and reporting just so to fulfill a question asked by a top guy. Imagine a drama where the emperor coughs and all the enunchs drop to their feet paralysing the whole palace in search of a remedy like wild shots in the dark - hanky, medication, turning down air con - whatever can work will do.
Lol. Genius indeed. Great employee engagement advice. Here is another two cents. Keep your engagement and focus at a level that is just enough to keep your paycheck and just enough to ensure you are eligible for a severance package in case it happens. Work smarter not harder.
No layoffs, in 2015, all will be fine as long as the market is preforming well. If thins turn around, you'd have to worry. Just saying.
