Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

New Name, Same Game

As I and many others stated back when the DOE came down on CCi, they will just rebrand themselves and continue on. Alas, CCi is simply rebranding itself as Zenith Education. Every one from the executive team down are moving over to Zenith and if this lasts you will see a few of the executives showing up on the board down the road. Jack and David have been talking about merging for over a year. Check out the history of CCi, it was founded by people that had ran other education companies into the ground. CCi started life as a private company named Corinthian Education and as it grew they went public under Corinthian Colleges and started offering stock in the company. This process has repeated itself many times before in the education industry and it is happening all over again. So for all of us wishful thinkers, don't expect any major changes under a new branding. As Jack likes to say, BUSINESS AS USUAL.

887 - at Socle we're being told "business as usual" but we talk to peeps at CSC and campuses as part of our jobs. They're hearing things like "eventually all the financial aid processing will be back at the campus level" so I think you'll get your wish. We've been kept in the dark since May and I think at this point our managers are too. It's all for the same reason - keep everyone passive and processing aid while ECMC can get their folks in and learn the processes. I have a feeling we're all going to be on our asses and competing for the same Tampa Bay jobs within a few months.

I think that's exactly what the protests are about. Dave Hawn has publicly promised to remove all CCI leadership, and of course it was assumed that considering the widespread fraud, that would mean pretty much all managers and above. Now it looks like they only meant CSC 4th floor, and that's not going over well at all. I expect the deal will go through, but the compromise will be that Hawn makes it clear to ED, the AGs, etc, etc, that there will be a big sweep after they have a chance to get up to speed. I don't believe it will be Business As Usual. CCI messed up too much and there are plenty of eyes watching what happens.
