How many of us will be threatened brow beat into traveling in the upcoming storm to keep our stores open. We all need to stand our ground and not travel during a blizzard for our own safety and that of those who need to be on the road. Office supplies IS NOT an essential business during a blizzard. Nobody wants to lose money. The stores or the employees. But safety MUST come first. If you are threatened with a write up for not coming to work, call HR and if they don't cooperate call a labor attorney.

I'm sure if I was still there they would tell me to ignore the travel ban. I used to run the store on back to school weekend with two people and very very very long lines because the manager wanted to save money on labor and ensure that he or she would get a bonus for doing so.
Looks like the state governments are making this a little easier. I am sure Staples would have tried to force people to go in if there were no travel bans being enforced (while they sit at home, nice and warm).
I can't count how many times in the past I was told to do what ever was needed to get the store open, even if it meant running it with 2 people.
