Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

management structure....

Gm's are putting themselves working 6 to 4 Monday through Friday, while forcing the SM to close every shift and also work every single saturday and sunday. I was told a total of 43 Sales Managers are trying to find other work. This isn't right, our GM can go. He is horrible, our SM does everything. He at the minimum should have saturdays off. Staples is going to lose alot of great SM.

As a Full-Time Team Supervisor, I close pretty much 95% of the time, in VA. My GM and SSM either always open or mids which usually end around 5 or 6. My gf has a normal 7-3 schedule so I barely get to talk with her..yay :/

Yes. Your I.S. will be opening and possibly closing. In our store I was toldour I.S. would open and M.T.S. would close. But then again in our store the I.S. is the GMs pet.

That was my life at Staples for six years. Closing each and every night I was scheduled. Being designated as a "Key Holder", yet not being given the pay that was given to other employees in that position. It's why I left after being told year after year that I'm not "good enough" to be a manager.

Yet I was given the task of scheduling, payroll, plan o'gram implementation for displays, deposits, responding to each and every alarm when the police were asked to respond and calling loss prevention..and training new candidates for sales and general managers positions in other stores,,, who had no retailing or college degree to indicate that they cold handle the job! That's right! Despite the fact that I have a degree and background in management, I had to deal with managers who had no people skills and ~~~ed off so many people they were asked to leave the company! This company was crap when they were doing well and I have no sympathy that they will no longer exist in the near future.

I have not seen this happen in my area. Most GMs open 1 day, close one day and work 3 midshifts a week. There was one previous GM that had 4 kids with a lot of events but they were pretty fair. This situation may be local/regional and depend on the DM (or lack of one).

Sorry if you are getting screwed like this, but take the hint, this company is going down.

My G.M. does the schedule and it's according to HIS family needs and kids sporting events...He has never rotated schedules...I have closed every single saturday night unless I request it off after being scheduled 9 days in a row. He also schedules the employees around him not the needs of the business.everyone is scheduled when he is working.

Staples doesn't care about you or your family as long as they're making money.

Our SM has a family and can't even enjoy his family one day on a weekend. So sad. He is so heartbroken. I think he is going through depression now because of it.
