Constant reorgs and layoffs. In 13 years I "survived" 5 but then got hit with the 6th a year ago. Now I just heard from my former colleagues there is another one that affected about 70% of the remaining Field IT. Most of my friends that remained are affected. It is extremely tough to work in that environment, day after day wondering when the axe will fall on you. I watched thousands of very talented people quit or get laid off during my years with Coke. Tough place to work. Always "more with less" mentality. Best thing that ever happened to me was getting laid off, even though I didn't realize it at the time. Severance is good if you have some tenure. Take it and run.

This came true, about 60% of Field IT, which was the only IT at locations outside of Atlanta supporting the bottling and sales facilities in CCR. The remaining 40% are no longer IT support, they are disaster recovery, project deployment and they are supposed to work on organizing the 3rd party companies they are using for all the IT support now.
This will never happen, IT is working on a number of cost cutting initiatives
Why IT folks always whine - they are not the only group that gets hit in layoffs.
Does not make sense
OK, we'll see about this. IT is a huge cost center and is always under a magnifying glass. Now, huge layoffs? I'd say no! Some fat trimming, I'd say probably yes.
