Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Buzzfeed and Heald Colleges

Do you really think that the article on Buzzfeed regarding Heald is accurate? I'd say they are making some assumptions (California will benefit if Heald is closed) that might not necessarily be accurate.

150, you are right those 2 statements are verifiable facts. What I was referring to is your repeated stating of your personal opinion as a fact such as "Heald is done" and "CCI is shutting down operations in California". These are 2 statements I quoted directly from some of your previous posts that are not facts, but simply your opinion. All I'm saying to you man is that you are entitled to your opinions and I certainly can't tell you that you are wrong for feeling that way, but your opinions are not facts and should not be stated as such.

The CA AG not letting any purchasers of CCI CA schools out of liability and that ECMC explicitly mentioning the CA AG as the reason for NOT buying IS A FACT.

120 ad 121, thanks for your opinion. First, do you enjoy posting twice in a row with two different posts saying essentially the same thing? I can tell as for you are the same person who thinks that capitalizing specific words will have more of an impact. Second, your opinion is simply that, and I find it comical you keep expressing it as a fact. Noe of us have any idea what will happen with Heald, so just cut the shit and quit stating your opinions as if they are facts, ok! Great!

CCI is shutting down operations in California. The CA AG won't waive liabilities to any potential purchaser and NO ONE (at least in his right mind) is going to take those on. If that sounds simplistic then well it is because it is that simple.

HEald is done. EVERYONE (well almost everyone) knows that Heald (unfortunately) is just a BIG SCAM. The diploma doesn't get you a job. (Sorry Walmart doesn't count) and the units (vast majority) don't transfer to a 4 year college. Heald enrollment keeps on dropping so even if by some miracle someone bought it then the enrollment will still keep on dropping.

Hey Board Hijacker, good to hear from you again. Have you heard anything about the Heald sale by chance?

Isn't there a way that the liability can stay with CCi and Jack? Does ECMC have to assume the liability? It seems to me that ECMC has no responsibility in the AG's lawsuit and shouldn't (and isn't) be made responsible for Jack's sins. Can't the AG further her political career by holding those responsible in court AND let the students at Heald complete their education? That sounds like a win-win to me.

The AG didn't "block" the sale. The CA AG said that ECMC would be liable for past and future litigation. ECMC said "Oh hell no" and that is why the CA schools were not included in the ECMC purchase. She didn't "block" the sale per se but she threw the wrench in the works. BTW in 3.5 years look for her in a political ad saying how tough she was shutting down predatory for profit schools.

OP, how does California benefit if Heald dies? I can't see it being affected one way or the other.

008, I see what mean. I misunderstood and thought you were saying she was going to block the sale, as opposed to putting up a roadblock as you clarified. I agree, it will definitely be a roadblock, however, I choose to believe that Heald will sell in spite of the CA AG and that we will be ok. Some on here will attack me for my belief, but that's cool, I'm a big boy, I can take it!

This is 006 - 008, we are saying the same thing. If she doesn't agree to allow the State's lawsuits to be excluded from the sale, she is essentially putting the roadblock up. It would be someone that really wants to take a calculated risk to make the purchase if the liabilities remain.

OP, I don't know how much of the article is or is not accurate. It does seem like a lot of assumptions were being made though. Whatever is going to happen is already in motion, so all we can do is wait and hope for a positive outcome for Heald.

006, I don't think the AG can "block" the sale of Heald, however, what she can do is not release the new owner from liability. It is then up to the prospective buyer if they want to assume the liability.

It's "news" - take from it what you will. The AG is dead set on blocking any type of sale, and nobody wants the liability. I am more surprised that other states aren't following along.
