Thread regarding SAE Institute (formerly the School of Audio Engineering) layoffs

Yes, have an honest open discussion.

My advice is openly and honestly talk to him when he comes but be intelligent and professional when expressing your concerns. Don't bash people like whats going on here because it won't solve anything. I'm not afraid to express my frustrations and concerns directly to him when he is at the campus and I hear he really listens. This blog doesn't solve ANYTHING it just fuels a lot of negativity. We now have a real forum to talk in, lets USE IT and quit anonymously posting here. This blog doesn't move SAE forward but talking to this CEO in an open, honest, intelligent format will or at least its our best shot.

I see nothing wrong with voicing our displeasure with SAE on here. Try doing it to someone in corporate HQ or Navitas and see how long you keep a job. I have learned from my years of working in corporate America that those in power hate being second guessed and they hate constructive criticism no matter how much they try and tell you different. Again if you don't believe me.....go into a meeting with one of them or send them an email being 100% of how you feel about the direction of the company, the decisions that were made, etc and lets see how long you have a job or you're not harassed out the front door.

This board is now a reality of SAE. It will slow down I'm sure, but until the website completely shuts down, its here to stay. For every overly negative conment that is poisonous, I admit I get on here to balance it out with more thoughtful comments

I think our discussion here is pretty civilized, given the amount of negativity the average worker feels lately. Being anonymous helps and hurts at the same time - people are more open to share what they know or feel if their names are obfuscated, at the same time, some will use anonymity to hurt and spit out poison. I guess we'll just have to chose what to do: stay away from this board or learn how to cope with it

But sadly the layoffs have already occurred and they did acknowledged it could have been handled better. There is probably not alot more they could learn from the laid off people that they don't already know. They are focusing on the people still working at SAE and trying to make it better that way which I agree with.

He should reach out to all those who were laid off.

I anticipate that this blog will slow down after Joes campus visits

This is where people come to blow off steam, ask questions, get some others opinions. But I agree.... When the CEO comes to your campus, be forthright and responsible.
