Heard Socle let 5 people go today. Any truth?

318: That goes for EUO too. CCi has not been a good place to work if you're a cube farm employee. I came from a campus and it was a much better atmosphere there. It probably depends a lot on the campus location, leadership (or lack of), and the student demographics. But in the cube farm, you're just a number and unit of production. It's like 1984 really coming true, especially with all the big weird signs everywhere ("WE ARE THEY!"...come on, really?).
Hey "You Dummies" -- I wouldn't be too cocksure about your job. If you're management (above Supervisor) you're pretty much done for. If you're not, you have a sucky job and it's going to get a lot suckier with all of the new owner upheaval. It will be worse for you than the campuses, since you aren't involved in student service. You are (and always have been) fish in a barrel, just gaping up as though you WANT to be micro-managed (I know you don't). I wouldn't want to be you.
Who got rif'ed in socle? Does anyone know?
Listen, the term Socle will go away, and there may be RIFs (already have been some) but the majority of the employees will continue operations and it will just be a dept under ECMC. Nobody at Socle has this boundless pride about how wonderful Socle, by that name, is...we are just normal people who want to have a job. Whether they call us Socle or SFS or the Clean up Shit Brigade, it doesn't matter. We will endure...dummies!
I agree with 229 and 203. Socle is just another example of the poor business strategies of Jack and his friends. I would say that most of the agents and supervisors will be re-trained in the ECMC way of doing business and the arrogant management will be fired - hopefully. One way or another the name Socle Education is done there is NO reason to keep the name, the business plan, or the management.
There are a lot of employees here and we've been hiring like gangbusters expecting our outside business to explode. It was a stupid expectation, but the fact is we're simply overstaffed for our function of processing aid for the campuses, especially considering we'll now only be servicing the ones that were sold with us. We're especially top-heavy, with no added value coming from most of the managers or above. There needs to be much more trimming of fat, but that doesn't mean Socle is done for. It's just an overdue labor adjustment.
Amazing how things worked out. After the sale of the colleges, CCi WAS going to retain Socle (possibly change the operating name to Socle Education) and provide "services" to other colleges. Socle employees got the big head and thought that they were sooo great. NOW, Socle is dying and will be buried soon. ECMC will be selling the "services" back to CCi's California campuses. HA HA HA Socle!! Pride comes before a fall!!!
It is at the Thornton center. I am a little worried to go to work today.
What site had the layoffs? Santa ana?
I too can confirm. Socle is officially dead and buried.
Yep there was. They are my co-workers and friends.
Only a matter of time until certain Socle employees begin filtering back over to EUO
Pretty sure it was more than 5. There were 3 in the office employees plus the sales team.
Bu-bu-but Socle is golden. Ha
