Thread regarding SAE Institute (formerly the School of Audio Engineering) layoffs

Is San Francisco campus closing down

I want to know if any one knows if there's any truth to the rumor that's buzzing around that the San Francisco campus will be closed and moved over to expression. I want to know if I should get a heads start looking for a new job. Apparently, those 40 employees didn't know what was coming and I don't want to be caught in the same situation. We are a captainless ship. And we haven't heard anything.

The San Francisco campus is not shutting down anytime soon. They were able to lay off some of the employees because there was redundancy in positions between the Ex'pression campus and the SF campus. Just because people got laid off doesn't mean it's shutting down. Calm down people, everything will be ok...

Ask yourself this: Would you trust a company who made decisions on what departments and people to cut without consulting each campus directly? If I owned a store in Cali and I live in NYC and this store is losing money. Does the common sense thing to do is to actually visit the store to see first hand what's wrong before I decide who to cut or where to cut or do I sit in my living room in NYC......look at a spread sheet and make the decision that way? With that said I would first look out for myself and look for a job because Navitas has already shown how they do business and the odds aren't in your favor.

I mean to me it only makes sense to move everything over to Expressions. Why have 2 campuses that close together when we are trying to save money......cut costs. That is how I would be looking at it if I was an owner unless we are trying to sell Expressions to cut that loss. If I worked at the San Fran campus my resume would be ready and already hitting the internet. Better safe than sorry. One thing I know is that those in charge will ALWAYS look out for their big salaries and will tell US little workers nothing until it's time to lay us off. That's why you can't have loyalty with these companies because they NEVER.....NEVER look out for the workers.

I'm with the poster. Things have been eerily quiet since the layoff and it feels like its been a month already. We have no idea what's happening. We do have some guy who will be coming here on occasion to babysit?
