Exercise Emotional Intelligence - Request from the Individual who linkedin with Executives overseas

I, for one, can understand that due to ongoing circumstances at the US Headquarters and recent circumstances with a layoff, one may want to shout and scream bloody murder. I've been doing it for some time now privately. I was not the first poster of this site, but I was the individual who connected on linkedin and reached out (though anonymously) to those overseas, bringing awareness to our circumstances and this site that has the dangerous potential of being more damaging than anything else. Students were/ are starting to read this. But before you think about raging on this public site, please consider the following. That momentarily satisfaction of debasing individuals on a blog may actually diminish the credibility of the issues at hand and stray from the purpose of why we used this forum to begin with. If you voice your concerns with executive decisions made, inefficient processes, lack of communication in a manner that is more professional, articulate and kind, I assure you, it will be taken with more respect and consideration. If you continue to rant with rage, the message gets lost in the delivery and these efforts are minimalized to non sensical disgruntled workers who do not have the sophistication to communicate at the level with the executives. If we continue to communicate destructively, all is lost. Use your brain and not your brute. It will go a longer way, I promise.

So when can we expect a formal process of sharing concerns? Or is there a survey, hopefully anonymously, that will be shared out that we can fill out. I'm just worried that this will be swept under the rug

Wow. That's unheard of. I know of people who were let go for performance issues and in order to hush them, they somehow got a severance for a few months! Navitas has money, they could have coughed it up being this was not these peoples fault.

How do you reward (lack of a better word) a person who has been with the company for 5 years by giving them 1 week severance? That's not a severance I call that an insult.....a slap in the face.....maybe I'm just naïve but if you're going to lay someone off that has been doing a good job at least make them feel as though they did a good job and it's nothing personal.

Though 40 people lost their jobs, somehow this affected EVERYONE. And I think that's the SAE culture that Group just did not get. Though we may have had issues as we were getting bigger and venturing into new things We always did it together under previous management. It just seems that this layoff has left scars beyond belief in trust and confidence with the Group leaders. I try to remain positive for SAE. I have to admit, i'm not positive with the Group management, but I am still confident in SAE

One of our people had been with SAE for 5 years. She got 1 week severance. That doesn't make me feel very confident with our system.

Dear LInkedin - I appreciate you going to bat for us. We have just been very frustrated with the corporate people and this last layoff hit home. The layoff was a result of their mismanagement. What's been very upsetting is that our people at the campus level had no warning or any inclination that positions were at risk or we were doing poorly financially. We were even surprised with some of the decisions at the group level because there is no subject matter experts for functional unit oversight. It seems imbalanced. I am not sure, but I don't believe they had any idea that they were at risk either. Those who are left at group do not have a relationship with the campuses and at this point, I don't think they will be able to recover that relationship. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

Thank you for reaching out to them. I agree with you here. It is an emotional time, but we have to show some restraint.

Well said. I agree. Let's be smarter about how we communicate. I believe in SAE. And I believe that its employees, current or past, can rise above this and conduct themselves accordingly. (see! I did it myself!)
