Thread regarding SAE Institute (formerly the School of Audio Engineering) layoffs

Has SAE United States lost it's culture?

I can only speak for myself, but after working here for 5 years, I've seen a change in who we are. Is SAE Corporate US trying to make us something that we are not? THey have hardly ever taken any time to come to the campus to even get to know us. I do believe in change, but positive change. We still remain to do what is right on the campus level, but the decisions made above in Miami make no sense to us.

Anonymous49271.......That's a damn good question........damn good! My guess is that the Australians who I heard were down in Miami raising hell about how money was spent took it upon themselves to decide who was going to go and who was staying with NO input from the folks in HQ or campus directors.

How is it that the marketing coordinators and ambassadors we're let go at the campuses, but all of marketing including the new marketing people and the high school director was saved at the group level?

The awesome culture that SAE built its reputation on has been lost in the leadership above the campus but the culture at the campus is still good. The campuses have great directors, great faculty and great staff who really care and great student experiences. Those NLT and FLT people came from run of the mill occupational schools and have never learned SAE's niche programs and have no idea what they are dealing with. For all they know SAE is handing out certificates in medical transcription or dental assisting. The current corporate team is full of people who don't have a clue what goes on but who take credit for anything good that happens at the campus. And if something goes wrong they point blame and don't take responsibility. What a joke. Hopefully this new Australian guy will figure it out quickly and see through the BS in the Miami corporate office.

I'm about to graduate (I hope) and I can tell that this is not the same school I signed up for. New rules were guven mid stream. Can you do that to the us? Because of the new attendance rules, I may not graduate on time.

If only we can all go overseas to the other campuses. I truly think it's just the US corporate team.

I've been here for almost over a year. THe culture remains the same: great at the campuses, no communication or support from corporate. So if there was anything better than that, I'm lucky that I don't know what I'm missing.

At least at the campuses, we are holding strong and maintaining who we are. It may be a good thing that corporate doesn't get out here too much. Then they can't infiltrate us and screw us up more. But at least put things in place that helps us at the campuses and helps our students. They can waste money in Miami HQ on their own time. I hear that they hardly ever even showed up to work (outside of their travel). the CEO never saw it because he lived in Los Angeles. But if he only knew the babysitting that needed at corporate.

Greetings from across the ocean. I work at another SAE Campus in Australia and this site has somehow come to my attention. I do believe that change is going to happen for you all as SAE is not known for letting management stick around especially if SAE is at stake. Hold tight. Stay focused and as positive as you can be. We will be thinking of you.

What they are trying to do at corporate is not cost efficient or effective. It's just creating additional levels of obstacles to support and service the student. I appreciate their efforts. But the model or remote servicing does not make sense for campuses who's students are local. Local students need local support. Remote servicing made sense for large online schools or Full Sail because their student body was mostly out of state or remote. Where is the business sense?
