Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

Mid Level Corporate Field Leaders lack the Leadership Skills

I am completely frustrated with my Corporate Functional Leader who only seems to care about herself. I have been with Heald before and after the acquisition and these circumstances are difficult enough to deal with. We may not get answers in regard to potential buyers. And I understand that. But for those supposed functional leaders.... BE HERE! Show your support! Help us to stay the course for those who have accepted to see this through. But to learn and hear of the apathy of a corporate leader when requesting support is completely frustrating. We still have students to help. We still have graduates who need our attention in finding employment. Leaders should NOT go missing as if they are riding out the storm in a cave. Respond to your emails promptly please. Pick up your phone please. Check in with your campuses please. There is still a responsibility we all have to our students and graduates. And if you don't take that responsibility seriously enough, please leave. Times like these, true leaders arise and others show true colors and somehow go and hide. This is the difference between real genuine Heald employees and those who are here for a paycheck.

Corporate sucks here now at Heald. All the good ones either left or were laid off.

Our corporate leadership has become invisible at the campuses. Even more so on email and phone! Our former support team was always there to help us,but the current team… they are just looking out for themselves. Not very hard or smart workers. And definitely do not care for others.

I think ours is an exception. Not sure how she got her position. I heard she didn't even have a degree. Definitely not an encouraging leader.

44048 - I did work for free. For one week during the furlough. I'll do it again if I have to (god, I hope I don't have to). I didn't do it for CCi. I did it for Heald. I'm only a sucker if I choose to be. Heald has been great to me, I'm happy to pay it back while we deal with the sins of CCi. We have good leadership (with this possible exception).

Why gripe here? It does no good. Do something that will get results. Email Eeva with your specific concerns. Ask her to schedule ten minutes to discuss your concerns.

OP is "Original Poster" . 44050... I agree with the OP... Not sure what you're talking about. We're just asking for normal help with our jobs. I have a feeling I know what leader the OP is speaking of. And that leader has been unsupportive from the get go. Prior to all these issues with AG and financial distresses, this "leader" has been everything but. If she is really trying to stay employed, how about a little help here.... Like if we ask a simple question about a procedure, it would be nice to get a response. Even if she doesn't know the answer (which is more than half the time)... It would be nice for my email to be acknowledged.

44018, functional directors have no power to do anything to help the campuses since they are silenced for voicing objections and told not to get involved. It's easy to believe they don't want to help you, but at Heald it's not true. They are just trying to stay employed like you. Mid level directors don't get any information or support either so don't sling mud if you don't have the facts.

Would any of you work for free? It isn't just about the paycheck, but you're a fool if you're cleaving off chunks of your soul for CCI or our screw-up students. Emotional and sentimental pleas are no substitute for being treated and compensated appropriately.

Darren Gold and anybody slinging his brand of self-serving crap can kiss my furry beanbag, now and forever more.

What does OP stand for?

In what sense does the OP imply that he/ she is a martyr? All because they actually care? I care too. That's why most of us are in education. If it's just about a paycheck, I assure you there are many other professions that pay much higher than the education industry.

44023 must be that leader the OP was referring to

We're all here for the paycheck. First, let's drop the foolish fantasy that we're martyrs who care more about a bunch of strangers than we do our own livelihoods. Don't be a sucker.

Sometimes when you're not getting the support from your corporate liaison.... Find your lifeline at your campus or other campuses. There are many of us who will also do what we can to see this through. This does not make any of those who seek employment elsewhere weak. We cannot judge. Some can afford to see it through. I rolled up my sleeve to provided tutoring to a few students because of lack of staff. That's what we are supposed to do. Stay the course!!!

Mine "works" from home. At least come to the campus and chip in. We have been without a director for months now. We are so unsupported.
