Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

family medical leave

Does anyone know anything about family medical leave? I recently had surgery and have been on short term disability for almost 3 months. Just received a letter saying my coverage under the family medical leave is expiring and my job is no longer secure. This was disturbing one, because I need my job and two because I was given no warning. Supervisor said my job is waiting for me but the subject of that letter has left me a little concerned. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Your position is protected for 12 work weeks under FLMA. If you return within those 12 work weeks Staples has to return you to your position or one of equal value. However, if you return after those 12 weeks, Staples will make every effort to return you to your position or one of equal value. If they don't have a position, then you are out of a job. So, yes your job is in jeopardy and they can and probably will let you go. Don't trust anyone at Staples! Not even your supervisor! Staples is itching for reasons to let everyone go!
