This is a response to an earlier posted question regarding the staggering process of budgetary adjustment notifications to affected areas through this month, more comprehensive moves will be made November, with December supposedly being the month of shuttering and aggressive staff reductions to achieve end of year operating profit targets.

Most part-time associates in my store are only getting 8, 10 or 12 hours per week. With these pathetic schedules Staples is no longer a job but instead a hobby. Is it any wonder customer service sucks!
We have not started reverse scale here in the east coast....does anyone know when this is to take effect?..things are going down hill fast.
You were an SSM Anonymous44295? I am glad you made it out (and with 12 weeks severance) A lot of SSMs would not touch ink or pull lists and have the attitude that they are only there to sell and coach. Particularly the ones they brought in from carrier stores to sell phones. It kind of sucks to think that you were in top store with solid metrics and they still ushered you out.
Be careful. They will put you on a PIP for silly things like coaching, yet load you with 1000 tasks to do. If you can make it through the pip, you will get 2 weeks of severance per year worked, up to a max of 12 weeks. I got the 12 weeks. Working my tail off to avoid being fired. I made sure I documented all coachings that I did. Either using the formal written coaching form, or just jotting it in a journal when it was a 2 minute drill about numbers or procedures. Protect yourself. I was in a store that was in the race for the presidents cup. Over 7% ESP and over 3% tech. I still had to do all the ink pack out and daily fill plus pull lists.
Is it better to leave on our own.. or wait it out and get a severance?
This is a good time to get out. Sooner or later they will put you out. This is a failing industry. I know. I was there several years ago. I kept hanging on thinking it was going to be better. It's not, and it won't be. In fact, if you look back, it is progressively worse going forward.
Reverse scaling? Jesus. Nice euphemism/ corporate speak for layoffs.
This is really already in effect but I've heard some locations haven't even started the reverse scaling
This is company wide with the exception of online services.
Does this mostly effect the retail and SDO associates? Or does this go further into support roles, business development etc? No one tell us anything.... feels like the so called "calm" before the storm. That eerie feeling.. waiting...
