Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Write-ups

This is getting out of control. I'm in region 17, and it's been ordered by the rvp that if your csat is below min, you get written up. If your solution builder is below 70% you get written up. And if a staff member walks in your store and you're not handing out daily deals, the mod gets sent home.

Seriously, we just got out of our busy season, we were clearly out numbered by customers vs staff, and people were upset by not having penny deals, or having enough stock. Of course customers are ticked off, not to mention lines. The worst score we had was availability and walked to product. Let's see Any of the vp's come into the store and actually work, get cussed out, or stay late and clean up after the lazy customers.

Working for Staples is an absolute fing joke. Easily the worst fing job I have ever had. I pray everyday that my store ends up on the closure list and I get my ass laid off.

The amount of work that goes into pretending something useless is useful is significant, imagine getting a huge paycheck for absolutely no applicable skills or qualities, all they do is sit behind a desk like a whining child demanding this and that with no sense of how those demands will logistically have to be met. And just like a child when they don't get their way, they throw a tantrum, the only difference is an RVP's ridiculousness trickles through the chain and lands on paper. The writing on the wall is clear, when an organization is tanking and the leadership is lashing out, what do you expect they'll do. Chances are unfortunately that anyone who has authored an insightful post on here is probably considerably more qualified to make retail ops decisions than an out of touch RVP. I know some corporate folks, and I promise if this is any consolation to you guys, the RVPs are being scrutinized closer everyday and while they seem on top, they're really on the executive bottom tier. Nevertheless, them treating people as expendable metrics is unacceptable and everyone needs to come together to give them exactly what they're paying for, absolutely nothing, in fact let's see some negative trending.

RVP jobs are at risk too and they feel piling on the BS is the best way to get stores in line and make them look good. MoD is usually never standing at the door greeting. They are almost always either tasking or directly helping a customer. Some DMs have an idea how stores really run, some just do not care. At the RVP level and up, they are entirely clueless. It will get worse as the shit accumulates and starts to roll downhill. Everyone at the top will be coming up with stupid, useless, redundant initiatives to try to prove their worth. No added payroll will accompany any of this so they will of course say "Just get it done".
