Well, another week over and looking forward to another weekend on the job boards. At this point everything is pretty much out of our hands except that. I've been hitting the job search hard and I hope you have too. As the managers get more and more desperate our work lives will get more aggravating - More accountability? YOU are saying that to US? Please! But what do you do? Grin and bear it and try not to stress. Margaritas tonight!

33764 - STFU. Most of the employees at EUO are uneducated lazy dumbasses. I don't have to "compete" against them. There are always more applicants than jobs, and yet companies are always complaining that they can't fill positions. It's quality, not quantity, and I will have no trouble finding a new job. If you've been looking for three months then you're unemployable. Typical for Student Services. What was your previous job? Waitress? Go the hell back to that and drop your delusions of grandeur.
It's tough in Tampa Bay. We not only have our campus staff, but tons of folks at the mall. That's a lot of competition for not very many jobs. Usually the easiest would be admissions, since they do sales. I'm not so sure that's the case now. The admissions people I know aren't having much luck, and they're rare examples of good guys. I don't know if it's just the job market right now or the bad PR. Everest has long had a bad rep in the area. Even IT people are having trouble finding anything, maybe because what we do is so specialized. I've been checking LinkedIn and noticing that a lot of managers have erased their profiles and are simply saying that they work in "education management." It would be shame if the company's reputation tainted the good people here. I'm in Student Services, and I've been looking since May, before the you know what hit the fan. This area is tough!
Also, unless you were a manager or a total asshole, you may have more friends out there than you think. I left for greener pastures in March and recently hired a Feb RIF. I was glad to help out a fellow survivor of the waking nightmare that is CCi.
I was in SF and could relocate so I had no problem. Much better position and much better work environment. If you're stuck in an area with lots of co-worker competition it's tough. Make sure you expand your search to look in related fields (with SF that's anything to do with finance or banking). Keep positive. It's just a question of when you and the right job will happen to connect.
I started in June with almost no luck. Had an interview today. Job won't start until winter!! If you are t actively looking, you are going to be screwed. We already are competing for the same jobs. And as more people jump ship, it will be even more competitive.
