UPDATE ON WHAT IS HAPPENING

Just and update, we are currently, making our outreach calls, we are required to do the weekly data entry on Talisma . Students are totally unaware of what is happening, when I call I still get the same excuses, Mom died, hand broke, computer down, kids sick etc. They are totally in the dark. (cracking up) We have weekly SOS calls and the full time faculty are kissing ass, to the PL and everyone else that jumps on the call, that they think is important. Some have taken the week off NO Pay, they act scared and desperate. Really, sad.

We were told that we are laying off more adjuncts and there is a Fall Semester to prepare for. I am hanging in on this job, lol, what a con-job, pretending I care.

The students are clueless, underrepresented and don't know. They are only concerned about the financial aid & free lap top. I really don't understand why we call the same students each week, they are not showing up in any of their classes, and not being dropped. At one time the company could lie and state they are not dropped because they are showing up in other classes, but with Talisma you can see every instructors interaction with that student. The students that respond to my calls, well, I literally beg them to come to class, to improve my retention. I am and Adjunct, I know my days are numbered. A big problem is with students taking the class, and they live in shelters. Try begging them to post online. Oye

I wonder how the students would feel about the fact that talisma contains highly personal information about them and their families (including medical info). Another excellent and robust product of our outreach program! Go TS!

I see a lot of students only worried about their reimbursement checks. They do not seem to get that this is a loan not a job. Also a lot of students who have graduated think that they can get their loans forgiven because they cannot find a job to use their degree in. Based on the student population if you have graduated several years ago it has more to do with their lack of skills and poor work ethic than the degree itself

925, I care about students who care. Those numbers are so small, it's impossible to continue to do this job. I've been teaching 15 plus years. I've never had so few students who give a crap about their educations. It's sad. I'm getting out after this term, whether they close or not.

Well one online student is making the difference and trying with what he has to help the students. Truth, respect and no lies.

I am an Instructor and I care about my students. I try to make sure they learn something! Don't give up on your students. I know we see in this situation that will not get better. We are choosing to stay so, we might as well care about our part in this job. Let management worry about the numbers and you worry about doing a good job.
