Can't wait to see how much they value IT with the stock at an all time high and, according to Vin, the FAs totally happy with the direction of technology. Can't see nothing, but positives now. We'll see if management backs up their words on how important and valuable IT is or will we get subpar market raises and bonuses again.

The truth is IT and any type of operations are not valued unless you bring a monetary value in their eyes. Although providing excellent service and systems does indirectly bring in profits, they only see true dollar value from FA's, sales, and research they can profit from. They will never understand that a house will fall without a foundation. Here is a warning for management. "You currently have a big sink hole developing in your foundation and the house will fall if you do not attend to it."
agree that there are issues in management. take a look around at the various areas and see what areas have no issues maintaining their personnel and others that can't regardless. Network/Telecom/Platform/Virtual all have good managers and the staff sticks around and gets the job done. I've seen recently that some AppAdmin's have departed, partially due to better opportunities, but some due to management. Security. I think they've lost like 10 people in the past couple years, including 2 managers. They tell us that a normal turnover rate is about 10%, but I think that area is closer to 30-35% of recent. I've always heard that security pays well here, so it's probably a leadership issue that nobody sees, or possibly, just better pay on the outside and they get treated better. I wouldn't even consider a promotion into that area with the management they have in place. I've heard good things about the CISO, and that's where it stops over there. I wonder if the employee survey even gets looked at in these areas that lose people. I'd bet discussions about their managers are pretty low. The network team has good management, they know what they're doing, and easy to work with, and that continues up that ladder.
When multiple managers leave from the same dept in a co. it often reflects the fact their teams CAN'T be managed / direction from the top is unclear and can't be executed.
What's going on in IT Security here? Heard today that they've lost 2 managers now in the past month. They can never seem to keep good people. Lots of turnover in the area. Pay/bonus related?
To Anonymous32188 why are architecture and development a joke?
The "good old" days of being well treated, respected, and having a enjoyable work career is over.. gone forever..
The market place in Tampa plays more than RJ by at least 20%. It used to be acceptable to earn less at RJ because of the culture, fun place to work, respect by the manager, Fair days and Gong Show.. but when they took all that away, I rather have the $$.
The funny thing here is people are complaining about raises and bonuses when the biggest joke is the annual salary they are paying you.
If you're a BA with 5 years experience, you should be around $75-85k+. The best ones make way more than that.
If you're a developer with 5-7 years or more experience, you should be high $90k's or low $100k's. Depends on your skillset.
If you're a dev manager of a team of at least 5-7, you should be making $100k+
Look around. You have peers with the same title, same experience, but they are probably making far more than you who started after you did (especially true for the 'lifers'). It's not uncommon to be working right next to someone who is your peer in every way, but you'll be making $20k less than them.
This is from last year, but while RJ bottom feeders get 2.5% shoved down their throats with the expectation that they be eternally grateful... http://m.bizjournals.com/tampabay/blog/morning-edition/2013/01/compensation-jumps-for-raymond-james.html?r=full
We do not need insulting raises, what we need is being treated with respect. Training? When was the last time you were able to go to training to upgrade your skills? Pay for covered parking? that is insulting. What about the slowly decreasing level of insurance converge.
Raymond James is the only employer that I ever saw regularly give sub 1% raises. Truly an insult, .75%, .25%, .5%. LOL, once you reach their top level pain point in pay, it's over for your salary progression.
From 2013 to 2014, the cost of living went up 2.3% (or something like that).
So, if you get a 3% raise, the net increase for you isn't actually 3% more money in your pocket.
If they dare think to give out those 3% raises again they don't need to let anyone go. People will do it them selves. I have been with RJ for many years and have been dealing with the same BS at end of year. Times up RJ, you want to be the alternative to wall street then wake the &( up and pay your people a competitive wage.
oh yeah get ready for that huge 2.5% bonus... for all the long nights, weekends, that is not worth it to me to put up with all that extra work.
5th Floor Ears, Bella, Vin and the others were brought in to clean house. One of a company's biggest expense in IT, is human capital(salary, benefits, and bonuses). If you think things are on the upswing, you are sadly mistaken. They are gathering data to evaluate the financial rewards of this years reductions to plan for future reductions.
get ready to pay that sunshine tax, baby!
no forced bell(a) curve this year. Maybe things will look up for once!
Architecture? yeah the guy that Allen brought down from ATT NJ is a joke..
Yep. Sad. RJ IT has become a huge joke, particularly Architecture and Development. They are truly inline for monumental failure.
WHATEVER... Have you not learned anything from the last few years? Sad....
Good luck... Keep working hard and hoping for decent raises and bonuses. When you realize that they will never happen at Raymond James, you will leave and be much happier.
