Have you heard about the proposed class action lawsuit for failure to pay for prep time?

Have you heard about the proposed class action lawsuit for failure to pay for prep time? "Law Offices of Kevin T. Barnes"? Someone might want to suggest they get a protective order to prevent "any" siphoning off of company resources.

This case against Heald is groundless. Heald was sued for the same thing in 2004, reformed payroll processes, and has paid for prep time ever since. I know CCi has handled instructor payroll differently for Everest and Wyotech. The other brands may be guilty as charged.

Also, if you are in California, you have a great deal more options because the labor laws there are more in favor of the employee. Someone in a right-to-work state like AZ is screwed.

31220 is probably right, even adjuncts at community colleges and universities, in general, don't get paid for prep time. Now, if you are being asked to work during a given week, and say, respond to emails within 24 hours, and are being treated as an hourly employee, but you don't get paid for that week, (which I believe is the issue here), then there's a case. I wonder if this pending case is why we now DO get paid for our 0 week, at least for ECPO.

No remedy for failure to pay for prep time at coco. Unless there is a local civil option and a pro bono legal team.

Winning a law suit/judgement is one thing. Collecting any awarded damages is something else. Blood....turnip.
