Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

First Day Here...

I've been reading the CCI layoff.com site for some time, but didn't think to check for a listing specific to Heald until today. Boy, what a difference! It's nice to read some posts from folks that have been around Heald for a while and still feel optimistic about our future. I've been with Heald for over a decade (not unusual at Heald). Heald is not perfect (much less perfect since being acquired and gutted by CCI), but there are so many good employees with passion for our students. I'm compelled to see this thing through.

We have a good people and a bright future. Let's leave CCI behind and get back to what we are good at.

OP - Leaving CCI behind is a nice sentiment, but not very practical or realistic. Potential buyers will have a dificult time ignoring what has happened at heald since it was purchasd by CCI.

Heald will no longer exist on its own. Do you remember when we became one OPEID a few years ago? Well all the campuses now have separate OPEIDs again! This is a sign that we cannot find one buyer for all of Heald, but may, I repeat MAY, be able to find buyers for individual campuses. I'd be worried if your campus has taken a major dip in enrollment where it cannot sustain its cost to run. Check out the Newly separated OPEIDS on the IPEDS site: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter/institutionprofile.aspx?unitId=afabb4b3b2af

I've been with Heald for 14 years. This is by far the worst. I've decided no longer to stay on a sinking ship. Heald nay be better than CCI, but that's hardly a standard to compare to. When we switched over to a for profit entity again, we lost a lot of who we were. We rode the recession like every other for profit college. But it was not sustainable. We should have remained non profit stAtus, but with accountability management.

It's nice to know that others feel the same way I do about Heald making it through this. It sucks while it is happening, but I feel in my heart that we will be ok and go on to continue to make a difference in the lives of our students. We just need to have faith that things will end up as they are supposed to.

Heald is a good college, and I have faith we will survive. I've also been here over ten years, and I plan to see this thing through.

I feel that we all are suffering the consequences of the actions of, and poor decisions made by, execs at CCI corporate.

We are so wonderful here at Heald. Our shit don't stink. In fact, our shit so good, we should consume it. Eat shit, Heald!!!

292- I think they meant there's no support system here in the website.

273 - I respectfully disagree about there not being a support system here. I have worked at several colleges throughout my career and can say with confidence that Heald is the best place I have worked at. Administration genuinely cares about faculty and go out of their way to make sure we are set up for success. I know that with the uncertainty of the situation it is tough to remain positive, but some of us are choosing to have faith and stick around because we believe in what we are doing here. I think we could all use a little more positivity to get us through this!

Not sure what the OP has been smoking. All the posts here are negative. Fine, there are no random posters about toner, but it's not like a support system here.

I love what Heald does and agree that most employees truly have a passion to help our students succeed but I am getting really nervous. CCI may just be the death of Heald and that is sad!

Sorry, damn auto-correct. What I meant is that I am also optimistic about Heald's future.
