ACCSC "Show Cause/Warning"

For those of us working at ACCSC accredited campuses, learning that the accrediting commission has placed all campuses on 'warning' is the worst news yet. What that means is that those 40 campuses are at great risk of losing accreditation for all programs; which will surely result in closure. That is separate from any sales prospect. If anyone believes that another entity (ECMC, etc.) will purchase a bulk of schools without accreditation, please tell me what I'm missing.

  1. There's a process. 2. A school that purchases CCI schools will render them no longer CCI schools and therefore the warnings won't count and 3. We won't be around long enough to lose accreditation.

I would disagree that at this point we are at "great risk" of losing our accreditation.

The current thinking is that ED is going all out to try to get a sale in place for political reasons. They have a lot of pull with accrediting agencies and could probably get ACCSC to hold off on suspending accreditation to give the new owners time to get compliant. It seems like the issue is the fake placement one that we already know about. The idea may be that CCi was a dishonest company, but with ECMC oversight that issue will not recur. But you are right. Without accreditation, there is no financial aid and no revenue.
