So what is the next actual step? Is there an actual deadline for a buyer to acquire CCI? Is that just before the end of the year? Ultimately how long will we all sit around for a company that's hemorrhaging money waiting for someone to buy?

413, I think your best alternative is a career change. It doesn't have to be a big one. It could be moving into the field you're teaching or to corporate training. Since you're at Heald, I'm guessing you're probably in California. That state has some really good retraining programs for which you'd qualify. Come to think of it, one of the main retraining programs, the Workforce Investment Act, is federal, so that doesn't matter.
@412 - 405 here. I have taken action. I've been applying to everything I'm even remotely qualified for over the last couple of months. The problem is that I'm not qualified to do much other than teach. I've given the last 15 years of my life to Heald only to be looked at as trash by any potential employers. When they find out where I've been teaching I can see their eyes glaze over. This is amazingly frustrating. Here I am in my late 40s with a family to support and I don't have the luxury to start at the bottom again. I'm not sitting and waiting, but I can't help but hold out a little hope.
405 - Don't sit. Don't wait. Don't hope. Don't depend on someone else (who has already shown a propensity to lie/cheat/steal) to secure your future. Take action. If you are understandably nervous about moving ahead, ask for help.
Our campus president told us we'd get our next update in the middle of November. That's a long time to sit, wait, and hope....
Yes there is.
