Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Sorry, Dick. Wish you coulda stayed around a bit longer.

I recently left a Cabela's store due to many things that I'm seeing here. We were understaffed, to the point where we had fewer cashiers than registers and there weren't enough floor workers to assist. On top of that, some of the managers refused to hop on to help, instead choosing to stand up in front, attempting to direct customer flow, and wail on the radio telling people to come up and help. Senior members are leaving, managers are leaving, everyone seems to be running to the hills and the major attitude from Corporate seems to be "Meh, they're replaceable." Went to the fishing department, one of the hardest hit at my store, and found a couple of 18 year olds working back there. I asked them what they liked to fish for, and they replied "Oh, I trout fish a bit here and there" and "I've been out in the bay with my uncle a few times." Couldn't tell me what tackle to use for most of the fish I asked about, and had never even been out fishing for salmon, one of the most prolific sportfish in our area. The rest of the store isn't much better off. Unfortunately, this seems to be the direction the company is headed, so while I wish them all the best, I see a downward spiral in the future.
