Doesn't mean you will keep your job so I'm not sure why some fellow employees feel the need to stay. I know some just want unemployment and some are getting new jobs currently but I also know of some who are "riding it out". That is the dumbest frame of mind yet.

OP, you seem to be a very intelligent individual. I thank you for making me realize that I'm in a very dumb state of mind. I would never had been able to make my decisions without your very thought provoking post. Now that everything is clear to me, I'm going to go have a beer. I suggest you go away and quit judging my state of mind. You don't know me nor are you able to understand what my thoughts are.
F*** you 852. You are one of those who find fault with people that have a job. Well, it's us working people that pay for your welfare, food stamps and free healthcare that Obama gives you for being a worthless POS. You're probably posting from your free Bama fone too. Instead of complaining about CCi, just sit back on your welfare ass and smoke some more Obama medical dope. ASSHOLE
Anonymous40885: You are correct and I work in IT. The interviews I went on were about 110k which is 10% higher than I am making now. The salaries are what the market can bear. If you need a skilled person and that job is in need then you will pay a higher salary. Skills like BSA, PM or Helpdesk are dime a dozen so the salaries will reflect that.
881 I completely agree. The pay for adjuncts at CCI compared to adjuncts at community colleges in CA is laughable. For other states it may be okay, but I have no clue how they determine their wages. I also agree that if some semblance of a school is kept after the sale, they WILL need instructors. Just how many is up in the air, but if they are subject to government regulations, they must employ a certain number of both FT and PT employees.
881 I worked at CSC in Santa Ana. And they are over market.
881, I was/am a PT instructor. Middle of the road pay. ITT pays $100 less per class per term. I just was offered a new gig that pays $500 more per term. It's non profit and no Outreach. Everyone there wants to be there. I would've taken that job at less pay, frankly. I cannot wait to be gone. 2 more weeks.
I think it depends on what department you worked in as to whether you were paid a higher-than-market salary. And perhaps even individually. I worked in IT (I have a new job, but left behind many friends and still look at the board from time to time) and when I went on interviews, I was told I was right at market rate. But some of the recruiters said they had spoken to other CCI IT people and said they were priced too high for the market for what they did. So it may be different experience for everyone.
I am a full-time instructor, and I think they may need instructors, if the college sells, and continues on as a school. It would be a big pain, and not worth it, to hire all new instructors, when we are all here already. So, I think there would be many lay offs, but not necessarily everyone. BTW, I don't know why everyone thinks Cci pays well.....Full time faculty and lead faculty and PDs, are all paid below market. My husband is full-time faculty at another online school, and he started at $65K. Everest pays FTF $54K, which is not much and below market. I have another job, so it's not a biggie, I just do it for some extra money. But, I just wanted to let everyone know, the academic salaries at Everest are actually below market.
Part of life is making your own decisions. At my campus there have some that have made the decision to leave and many who haven't. If the right opportunity arises I would probably leave but I'm not going to accept any job just to leave this one. Everyone has their reasons for staying or leaving and I for one am not going to judge or make up reasons they are doing what they feel they need to do.
If you work in Tampa you are looking, been looking but have not found anything that pays even 50% of what you make here and even with that not a lot of offers. If you are over 50 NO offers so people who are riding it out are doing it because there is nothing else. If you quit not even unemployment so you must "walk a mile in my moccasins " to judge me.
40852 - I've read a lot of things on here that have been spot-on but you really nailed it. I agree 100%. I always wondered where they found (and kept) so many "yes-men" but you are exactly right. They find desperate people who aren't worth the salaries. Bingo, nice job.
CCI focuses on hiring the same demographic it recruits as students. They pay them far more than they are worth, which buys them control. These people are devoid of ethics and moral compass and will do what their massa says because they know that the Verizon kiosk or Sears call center awaits them...along with their true market salary. When you stumble across "that job" when you know you aren't worth it...you are desperate to keep it. That's why they have no issues in breaking the law or federal guidelines. It's also a reason why they have no issue today with working for a federally labeled predatory lender. What is truly hilarious is if they are kept by a buyer (which isn't happening) they actually think their bloated CCI salary is coming too. Ahahahahahaha...pathetic ghetto rats.
This sounds crazy, but when I read this, I felt like I could have written it. Block me. Delete me. OP is stating truth. Thanks, OP. I've posted in the past and have been bullied and abused for saying it. I'm glad I didn't, but I stand by your words. Bullies ahoy. Btw, I'm out of the job and the board. Best of luck to those who want to find rainbows, puppies, and p-cards again. Go COCO!!! (That was a joke for those of you who aren't actual employees and know we don't call us COCO!)
