As this is my last post, I gladly turned in my keys this week! This job has been the biggest joke! The shit is bad in stores, the inconsiderate assholes that GM's take orders from, the ridiculous goals we had to force on associates, the most ungrateful company I could imagine. I am so relieved that I am out. Hint for everyone left, per my "informant" when a store is short a GM beware, you're pushed to the top of the closure lists. Staples is making every effort to get out of severances when throwing people out. FT tech and CPC sups are on the chopping block first of the year if you're in a tier 3 or 4 store. FT sups will be transitioned to PT and assume the responsibility of IS duties. IS positions will be gone shortly after Christmas. Good luck working Christmas day! Get out NOW!!

So if the FT TSupervisors get transitioned to part time, what becomes of the original part time supervisor?
I was a GM for Staples until about 7 months ago. The BS we were going through at the time and the prior 2 years or so drove me to resign....in good standing I might add. I was fed up 2 years ago but kept telling myself that things were going to get better. Well a year ago with all the mounting nonsense sealed the deal. For all the reasons discussed on this board, I assured myself that it wasn't going to get any better, in fact would get worse. I don't claim to be a soothsayer, but I must say I was right. Lost AM's, team sups entrusted with too much responsibility, opening on Thanksgiving with no plus side that I could figure out, a new metric to manage to every week, a metric to measure the metrics and on and on. I'm preaching to the choir. All of this and I still wondered whether leaving was a mistake. Found a job not in retail that is not near as challenging and consequently doesn't pay as well and still I questioned my decision to leave. This board has convinced me that my decision was correct. What a mess! For those considering a change, trust me, it ain't easy and if your like me, you'll second guess yourself often. Now, 7 months later, you have all convinced me I made the right decision. Best of luck to all.
Retail has a 35% labor reduction req. For 2015.
My DM warned me all of the above so there must be truth!!
